Just got my P30 about a month ago and I LOVE IT! Got a PM from one of the members on my local board offering this:

I know you just got the HK P30, but I don't suppose you could be interested in a little trade would you lol.

I have an HK P2000 V3 .40 caliber that is used but in decent shape I'm asking $550.00 for.

I also have a virgin STAG AR lower, a complete lower parts kit and an OD Green MAGPUL MIAD grip. None of its ever been used or even installed yet.

300 rounds of PMC Starfire 180gr ammo and 3 boxes of Black Talons in .40 caliber.

I have a buyer for the P2000 now at $550. I have a buyer for the STAG lower now at $375.00 and the ammo should pull another $175~250 ish but I can't find a P30 anywhere to save my life lol

I'd trade it all for a P30...

Guess it doesnt hurt to ask, you never know

What do you guys think?

Thats alot to throw up to trade for Your P30, you have you ask yourself is the P30 worth more to you then everything offered above...The P30's are a little scarce but they are out there... you just have to look...and be patient..My grandfather always told me if your are not fully certain about something dont do it....Its simple but has always come in handy for me...The P2000 is a fine gun and you are getting a lot of goodies along with it...Do you have any use for an AR Lower? do you like the 40 cal? If all these questions comply yes then go for it, if not then just buy the P2000 outright from him if all he is asking is 550 thats a good buy on that gun to begin with.... Hope this helps..But like you stated before you Love the P30....You will most likely end up regretting it if you get rid of it..

What do you guys think?

I think I'll have another beer. But seriously, are you into building ARs? If so, this may be an appealing trade. If not, it can be a VERY expensive hobby to get into. As stated, are you a fan of the .40SW? All my guns are either 9mm, 45acp, or 357 magnum. I tried the 40SW on several different guns, and just didn't care for it. Great round though, and if you like it, this may be a good deal. For me? I LOVE the P30, and only LIKE the P2000. Good luck!

That's what I am afraid of. I've always wanted to build an AR, but I haven't done it yet. Not sure if I can afford another pricey hobby. I'll have to think about this some more.

I would say it is definately a good deal. If you like shooting .40, and aren't too attached to your P30, I'd go for it. The P2000 is a great weapon, handles beautifly, and is more concealable than the P30. The P30 has nicer grips and looks sexier, but both are great guns. The only problem with building an AR right now is parts availability. All you have to do is find a complete upper, a stock, and a bolt/carrier assembly, and you're good to go.

Moneywise this is at least a fair trade if not in your favor.

Only problem is even if you want to build your AR, very difficult to find other parts like an upper etc.

they're around if you look for them, at least a used one

Thanks for the advice guys. On paper, it looks like a great deal. But I just have that gut feeling that I would regret it later. I spent a lot of time hunting down a P30 for the right price and I would probably kick myself later if went through with it.

My thinking is this, if he wants your P30 badly enough to offer you all that stuff then you certainly have something worth hanging onto. :D

P30's are available on Gunbroker all day, every day...

If it sounds too good to be true...

All that aside - I'd still keep the P30...

I'll take the trade if he wants a P30L!

Tell them to check out gun broker. A month ago I made an offer on one that had a high reserve that didnt sell. They wanted like $890 NIB for it I offered them $800 and they took it. Only negative is I had to pay $30 for shipping. But $830 was cheaper than buying local at $859+ 8% tax.

Heres a stag arms lower with parts installed for under $200 http://www.title2.com/Stagarms.html I wouldn't do the trade.

Those prices are wrong and WAY out of date. That's how much they cost, pre-2008 election.

All of the dealers who still have low prices like that are out of stock and have never updated there pages.

If I could find them that cheap in-stock, I'd buy 12 more just for the investment. :D

On a side note, I'm the one who offered him the trade and my god, I've had like 3 people offer me P30's today already.

This will be my second P30, so yes, I would consider a P30L. I'm just dumping all my .40 calibers and going to 9mm and .45acp only. I simply don't need a dozen diffrent calibers and I already own 5.56's, 5.45's and 7.62x39's too so I can't feed them all lol.

Oh and I'm getting one NP3'ed and I REALLY like the P30's too :)

9mm's for the range, but .45acp's for the carry! Kimber PRO CDP Series 1.

My carry gun when my CPL app ever clears anyway.

I agree with Bender xcept make mine another crown.. On a serious note, Im not a 40 fan & with the current political situation do u want another expense of different ammo & mags when u could be utilizing what u already own. If it was a 9mm & the lower than absolutely yes. A AR15 is a must for most gun owners. Once u have one, u will always want 2 make sure u have one..

I used to have ar-15s, but sold them in favor of my AK-47s. Haven't looked back since. I can drop, fall on, bury, and shoot the s*** out of my AK without ever having to worry about it. I can also hit a 15inch silouette target at 300yds using iron sites. RRA stripped lowers can still be bought around here for $200, and some other brands for cheaper. A local shop here had some brand I've never heard of for $100. The problem is finding uppers.
