View Full Version : Blackhawk lvl III for USP
I just ordered a Blackhawk level III for my fullsize USP in Basket weave finish. They don't have them on the site but they are available. I asked about one for the HK45 and she said it was in the works. Some day...

If you ordered that holster for a USP .45f you will be sad to hear that your pistol will stick out of the bottom. If it is for a 9mm or .40 USP, it will be fine.
The dunderheads at the Blackhawk! holster design department could have made one holster for all full-sized USP models my making the holster to accomodate the 4.41 inch barrel of the .45 model. Instead, they made it too short and not a good way to protect the barrel crown. I get in and out of my patrol car numerous times each night making traffic stops. I'd rather have the end of a $100 holster take the abuse than the end of my pistol.
Hopefully, we can convince Blackhawk! to offer more fits. I think I'll get a Safariland 6280 in the STX Basketweave if they don't.

I hope the person at Blackhawk understood your question. Most people think you may be asking about the USP 45. Just search HK45 on youtube and all you see is a bunch of "HK.45 or H&K .45, or HK .45" and all you see is a USP ".45".
If they come out with a Level III Serpa Duty Holster with Auto Lock for a HK45 or HK45C, that would be real dandy. And I do hate the fact that some holsters are too short and causes the gun to 'stick out'. That really irks me.
I specifically stressed the "new model" not the USP. The lady I talked to about the USP holster seemed savvy enough as she told me the one I ordered was for the .40 or 9 and said it would be short on the USP .45... Time will tell. I'm using the 6280 now and have for 2 years. I'm not really impressed, I like a holster that "lets go" instead of drags out like mine does. My guess is also that the Blackhawk design may allow for C&L carry. I'll check and see, although it doesn't affect me as I'm LEM on my duty weapon anyway.

I prefer to have a light on my primary handgun. I was under the impression the Blackhawk duty holsters for a handgun with a light mounted, were only made for guns with Blackhawks propietery light mounted, is this the case? As I prefer the SureFire X300 light...
Not sure how they do thier light bearing holsters. I have yet to settle on keeping a light on my primary. I can see the advantages but I just haven't gotten that far yet. Alot of that probably stems from carrying the USP and not getting a light for the proprietary rail or an adapter.
