View Full Version : U.S. made HK45
I recently found a new HK45 residing in the gun case at my local dealer (in Oklahoma) made in the US. The price was the same that I paid for mine last year ($909). Other than the frame stamping stating made in the US the only other difference noted was the serial no. location on the slide, and no DE after the no. It is good to see some of these making their way to dealers; maybe it will be a little easier for buyers to find one.

Oh well....guess that tosses out those who said it'll be cheaper when it's made here. I was not one of them, thank you.

I was back in the area of the shop today so I took another look at the slide markings. Since I was not a buyer, I didn`t feel as though I could request to take a photo. The serial no. was printed on the left side of the slide. Instead of the 126 prefix the serial no. had an HKU prefix. Cursory exam indicated the same high quality of fit and finish as on the German made gun that I have.

I was not one of them either. Expecting that seems a little naive to me.

Greetings,
Thank you for the update. I certainly could understand not requesting a photo. That is very good that the fit and finish are as on the German manufactured weapons. Again . . . thank you!

I know this sounds fecetious, but do you recall if the slide release had the same "pre-worn" finish that is found on the German HK45s and P30s? I'm just curious b/c I think this is an area that should be addressed.
I don`t recall anything remarkable about the slide stop but I was paying more attention to other aspects of the gun. From what I recall, the finish looked fine throughout.

I fully agree. I was able to see and handle my first US Made HK45. It had a serial number in the "low 200's", something like HKU-0002xx.
I was at my local gun store and a gentleman walked in to pick up the HK45 that he special ordered. It has the large grey case and the HK45 was wrapped in plastic. The weapon looked as good or better than the German made ones. I was very pleased with what I seen.
The serial number and "proof marking" look to be laser etched, with no deep cuts in the slide, almost looked like it was painted on, but I am sure it is extremely durable. Still has the same HK roll marks as the German units.
The proof mark(?) looks like a triangle with a capital letter P inside it--No "antler" or "eagle" markings on the slide, just the triangle P.
Again . . . it was very nice. I wish I had had a camera on me to take photos. I had no idea that it was there--it was not in a display case. In all other respects it looked just as "German" as its overseas bretheren.

For anyone loking for US made HK45 photos, there is one in for sale section, and looks like it's equipped with true night sight as well

I seem to recall reading where only the frame is US made on these New hampshire pistols; they are using slides, barrels, and other parts sent from Germany to complete assembly.
True?
Just curious; I have a German one. Superb pistol... but then, we knew it would be. :D

So, I wonder who makes these night sights for them & how I could go about getting several pairs for my HK45s.

I read on this forum that they are being made by Meprolight.

I'd like to see visual confirmation of this. From my understanding, in talking with HK CS last week, HK has not even taken receipt of their shipment from Meprolight yet.

I got an email from GM about his US HK45 in the for sale section. He said evrything is made in Germany and assembled in the US. He said the night sights are excellent also.
