Okay,

What happens if one where to shoot a normal length USP barrel with a Match weight on the pistol? Is there any safety issues with doing this? It seems that the barrel will clear the weight when cycling the slide. Is there any chance the bullet would hit the weight?

2. The top of the barrel in the USP match is machined differently than that of the normal USP. I understand this is because of the additional length of the barrel, but is this also due to some issue with the Match weight? I.E. some safety issue.

Thanks

The bullet will not hit the weights but since there is no barrel "through" the weights when fired, the muzzle blast will put unopposed downward pressure on the weights. Since the weights clamp on the frame this downward pressure may cause undue stress on the frame and cause problems down the road. Has it ever happened? Don't know. I've not heard of it happening but the likelihood of it causing damage is too great for me and most others who care about their pistols to chance. I am unaware of any difference between a Match barrel and a standard USP barrel other than the o-ring and the match barrel being longer.

The Match is flat on top with a slight upward angle from the muzzle to the breach. The USP is angled more sharply from the muzzle to the breach and has to planes the second plane neare to the breach is a slighter angle hope the pictures clarify.

Are those pictures from two pistols from the same date code? And how would the chamber hood on the Match compare to a same date code Expert or Tactical pistol? It would interesting to know if they are actually different or just changes made between two different date coded pistols. My Expert AB, USP AB, and Tactical AB look the same except for the top of the Expert's chamber hood not being blackened.
