I am looking for a good ankle holster for daily use with my P2000SK. Anyone use the Galco Ankle Lite, and if so which size did you buy? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Is anyone using an ankle holster? I'd like to get one for my sk also.

As a State Trooper in Colorado, as a matter of fact, I used to carry a S&W model 60 in an ankle rig as a back up on duty. I'm 6'3" tall and weigh in at 220 so I didn't have a lot of problems with it. However, it isn't the most comfortable way to carry a gun if the weight gets more than a model 60. I would personally think that after my experience, I wouldn't want to do it with a heavier weapon. Add to that the occasional snow storm bring in 8-12" of snow and it can be down right inconvenient.
I own a P2000SK and just the thought of putting that fully loaded on my ankle or against my calf is something I personally wouldn't do just because of the bulk and weight.
If you have anything you could put the pistol in and then walk around the house with it tapped to your lower leg it will give you an idea. None of those rigs will be totally stable. They all have some bounce to them. After you try that for a half hour or so with say a cheap uncle mikes holster duck taped to your leg you may reconsider the idea. If you still think it's a go, then more power to you. That pistol is a great concealment choice but it's a bit big, in my opinion for the ankle.

Thanks for the input. I actually ordered the Desantis ankle rig today and will post my thoughts on it once I've worn it a while. I see your point about weight/movement etc., but I'm still going to give it a shot.
Thanks again!!

When you get the chance, would love to see some pics of that rig - thanks!

Sometimes for some situations one has no choice about concealing in odd places. I understand that. Good luck with the rig and I sincerely hope it does work out to your expectations.

I have the Desantis "Die Hard" ankle holster for my S&W Airweight 642, and like flintsghost I could not imagine carrying anything heavier than that on my ankle. Furthermore, I think it's alot tougher to draw from.

Have you had a chance to take pictures? Also please give your opinions on it.
Thanks!

I have the regular Galco Ankle Holster for my Kahr PM9 and even with that lighter gun, I found the holster would work down the leg. One time I was helping to move someone and jumped off a truck tailgate and the ankle holster just plopped down to the top of my shoe (still concealed but not comfortable). There's a good test .. go jump off a truck bumper or over a fence.
Anyway, the weight didn't bother me but it is something to get used to. +1 on flintsghost's comment of attaching a gun to your leg around the house for consideration. An Ace bandage works nicely. Duct tape is not friendly to leg hair (kidding) Also, +1 on sennitorp's comment about something larger than a PM9 or S&W J Frame being probably too heavy.
Just last week I got my hands on the Galco Ankle Holster Strap to keep it from sliding down. The strap runs about $20 and the velcro ends up being somewhat irritating. It works better but I'm thinking that I'll be able to go get some material and make my own, improved strap - for less than $20.
I think the Lite holster would be nicer since the regular one is padded to heck, which makes it pretty thick and bulkier for concealability.

Before I bought my P2000sk, I used to carry my .380 PPK/S in a Fobus ankle holster. It was actually quite comfortable but it did drop down a couple of times. The only time it was uncomfortable was I went to New Orleans for St Patricks Day. I left my hotel room in lounge pants and sandals to go to a mini mart, it dropped down and started digging into my ankle. That was the most uncomfortable 2 blocks I've ever walked, despite breaking my ankles 3 times.
Speaking of Fobus, they make a ankle holster for the P2000sk. Its the same holster for the Springfield XD.
