My local dealer has about ten P7 PSPs for sale. They each have the Bundeswehr acceptance stamp (I think) - long drooped wing eagle - on the frame, slide and barrel. The slides all appear to be hard-chromed. All are etched with the Trussville, AL import address. Were these pistols originally made with the plated slide or is this something that HK did when they were refurbishing them? I have never seen a factory chrome-plated slide on a P7. He also has some that are marked identically but with all black finish.
I'm new to the forum - just getting interested in things HK, so any answers would be appreciated.

Also, are P7M8s particularly collectible. He has a near mint one for $1500, which I think is high. Your thoughts on this also.
Many thanks

Hard chrome is aftermarket, not done by HK.

A P7M8 for $1500 is a little on the high side, even for brand new in box. But that's typical for local gun stores.

As far as I know, general consensus also, as far as the trade-ins are concerned, HK only inspected the internals of P7s for wear & tear and graded them as such. There is no refurb, plate, chrome or parts replacement.

The mark that you described: a square w/ the Bundesadler inside w/BWB and a 3 digit # under it: either 318 or 415, is the Fed govt proof mark for either the Bundeswehr Bw, in which case you will also see the Bw property stamp; or State police eg Nds inside a circle, property stamp. Another proof mark is the BMI under the Bundesadler (stste police only).

Look at the R side of the slide to see if you see Nds stamp. I think the chrome-plate is not done by HK. The stamp on the barrel is different w/ the Bundesadler & letter N under it: the nitroproof stamp found on both commercial & govt issued weapons.

$1500 for a LNIB M8 is a bit on the steep side.

CDNN sells a "silver" finished slide P7 that I've also seen at local gun shows. This unusual finish is original from HK. Perhaps this is what you saw??

One of the reps at CDNN said the silver finish is put on by them (CDNN) not HK

No its not. CDNN had that done.

When I inquired as to exactly what it was, and who did it, the best answers I could get from three different CDNN employees was "I dunno" and "Some guy in San Antonio".

I haven't seen any complaints from folks who have bought these "silver slide" P7s yet, though. Its probably some sort of industrial e-nickle or hard chrome, like a local fellow does here (calls it "Cobalt").

I entrusted my P7s to known refinishers with a solid track record. It wasn't cheap, and I waited quite a while. But I KNOW this stuff isn't going to flake or peel off, etc.

YMMV... ;)

I have a silver slide on layaway at my local dealer here in MI. My questions is if CDNN had them done, how come I've seen them on Gunbroker and in my case locally. Do the dealers purchase them from CDNN as well? Did CDNN have exclusive import rights to all the P7's that have come to market? Just asking.

EDMAN63,

CDNN does not have exclusive import rights. PW arms imported a bunch of P7 w/ Bw stamps w/ serial # 77xxx in pristine condition recently. These show up on GB also.
Additionally I have seen some CDNN purple slide that was selling for $499 at X'mas show up in GB for $600+.
