I just bought my stainless usp .40 and absolutely love it. I know it's not really practical for concealed carry purposed. My question is then, what do you guys all suggest I look for? H&K4Life suggests a USP .40C... I don't want the p2000 because it has no safety. I was wondering... USP .40c or USP9c? How is the USPc in 9mm and USPf in 9mm?

I am one of those who prefers to not have a mechanical safety on a carry weapon. The USPc(s) come highly recommended. I actually prefer the P30, but of course, it's a var. 3.

The USP9f is identical in size to your USP40f.

How about recoil etc etc?

Most .40 S&W pistols will have what is commonly referred to as more "flip" as compared to the 9mm and .357 Sig. I would recommend that you go out and try it before you buy it. Only you can decide what is best for you.

How is the USPc in 9mm and USPf in 9mm?In my opinion the USP Compact is better in .40s&w. The 9mm only holds one more round and the USPc in .40s&w is very soft-shooting and controllable. I have a .40c V1 and love it. I think the USP/c is one of the best guns out there for the .40s&w cartridge. If you were considering a full-size USP, then maybe the 9mm would be a better option. The full-size makes for a great range gun and 9mm is much more affordable to shoot in that case.

I actually have a P2000sk 9mm for carry and love it. Mine has the light LEM trigger, which I like just as much as the DA/SA on my V1 .40c. The P2000 has a much sleeker profile and since it has a tapered slide and no bulky control levers like the USP has it makes for a very thin and sleek design...perfect for carrying in my opinion.

But since you said you want one with a safety, I think you should look into the new HK45c. It's the same height as the USP .40c, but the barrel is just a tad longer. However, it has the sleek, tapered slide like the P2000 has and it is chambered in .45acp. It would make for a very sweet carry gun. I'm actually considering selling my mint USP .40c and adding a little cash to replace it with the HK45c. (Lmk if you would be interested in buying mine:))

I saw the 45c today... fit nice in my hands this other shop was nuts they wanted $1100 for it! I really love the USP. I think whatever I go with it's going to be in stainless steel to match my current gun. I guess ill just have to go shoot the 45 and the 9mm in compact!

If your CCW must have a safety, you can't go wrong with any of the USPs. I personally love the P30 and there's a thread on here about a safety version to be out soon...

Don't forget to take a look at a HK P7 for carry. IMHO, this model was tailor made for concealed carry: compact, thin, safe, and reliable.

P7 or USPc (both perfect for carry). I used to have a P7 PSP until I sold it for my new HK45c & now for the past 2 years I have been carrying my USPc .40 with a safety. You can't go wrong with either one IMO. I plan on picking up a somewhat used late model P7M8 next so I can alternate pistols :)

How about recoil etc etc?I have fired my USP40f side-by-side with my Glock G22 and my SIG P229, in addition to several of my 9mm's. Recoil and muzzle rise are a total non-issue. The USPf is one of the more milder recoiling .40S&W's. Glock guys love to talk about low bore axis and muzzle flip. It's nonsense in it's purest form.

I alternate between my USP Compact .40 and my USP Compact .45 (both stainless). In my opinion you can't go wrong with a USP Compact regardless of which round you use. The most important thing is to go to your local HK dealer and put all of them in your hands and then buy what feels right to you.

That is just my opinion.

For me. I go with the P7M8 when I need a really concealable set-up. The .45 is in my opinion ideal caliber for carry so usually I carry the HK45c.

I really wish HK would design a true conceal carry .45. I feel that the USP Compact and new HK45C both are a little on the large side for conceal carry. Don't get me wrong, HK's are my go to firearms, as a matter of fact all my firearms are HK's. Their the only ones I trust.

I carried my P7M8 for a while but the 9mm is just not for me. I trained off a .45 and that's what I feel most comfortable and shoot best with. I carried my USP full size .45 as my CCW but it was just to difficult to conceal, though I was able to.

I took a look at the HK45C, the only thing stopping me from going with it is the USP .45 Compact which is slightly smaller. My first firearm was a 98 USP .45 Compact, wish I never had sold it. I think I will be going back to that for my CCW.
