I bought a used HK P2000SK and the night sights don't seem to work, looks like glow in the dark sights but they don't glow. I was thinking about getting night sights soon but have heard some mixed reviews. I carry my gun everywhere (off duty) and was wondering if it's worth getting nights sights. Which brand should I be looking into and are they worth getting? What cant I possibly lose by adding night sights as for a accuracy?

Shoot at night?
Meps are probably the best buy in NS.
Won't be any more accurate that other sights ~ it's really you not the sights.

Shoot at night?
I've only shot at night once at the academy but I do carry at night.

To be frank.
Why the heck are you asking this question?;)
Of course you should have night sites. Any carry gun should have night sites. Even if you're 100% sure that you will never carry at night you should have them, what about a movie theater? Dark Building? Solar eclipse?
All kidding aside, they are an priceless upgrade. For the price of 500 rounds you could have sights that allow you to more accurately fire your pistol for the other 12 hours in the day (ex: night). There is no reason not to have them on a gun that you trust your life to.

Yes, it's worth getting them. Try shooting at a target in daylight with the sights misaligned, intentionally, by just the width of the front post and see how far you miss the aiming point at 5-10-15 & 20 yards. You will be suprised by how much you miss with a minor sight misalignment. That's just what happens at night without being able to see your sights clearly.

I have mixed feelings on them. They came on my SK, and I've never fired at night so its hard to say how useful they'd be. I really don't know if I would spring for them if they weren't already on there, but since you're thinking about replacing them anyway I say go for it. If you don't like them take them off and sell them.

Here's my way of thinking. Night sights aid you in picking up the sights in low light conditions. I have run dry drills through my house under varying lighting conditions with both pistols equipped with night sights and those without. As the lighting conditions get progressively darker, the night sights become more and more valuable. In addition, the pistol with night sights was almost always easier to obtain a quick sight picture with then the one without under all lighting conditions.
If night sights offer any advantage at all in a SD situation then I will take it. Any advantage you can obtain, no matter how small, you should opt for and night sights are a very affordable advantage (only about $100).
All my carry pistols are equipped with night sights and I would not carry a pistol without them. YMMV. :)

Another good benefit of night sights (at least to me) is that when the gun is left on a nightstand, if you need to pick it up in the dark you can decipher the orientation of the gun making it a little easier. (Though to be safe it's best to turn on the light before handling the gun).
One other comment is you could look into getting a front night sight and having standard rears. I have this combination on my P226 and think it gives me a good sight picture in the daytime, and at night at least I know where the front sight is pointed at.
Regardless, I agree that they are a worthwhile addition to a carry gun.
