I have not taken my p7 out yet but try to manually cycle through a mag by pulling the slide back. Everytime I try it it seems to fail unless I pull slide back hard a let go. My p2000 I can just pull back slowly and it will cycle. Is there something wrong with my p7.

No. If it does the same when actually firing the gun, then we'll go from there.

When they cycle through the tip of the bullets are getting nicked

Fire the gun. Dry cycling is a waste of time

I will once it stops snowing. I noticed when I did this a few rounds stoves pipe and looks like it nicked up the back of the barrel where the round feeds into is this a problem. I hope not seeing as I bought it for 499 fully nickel plated with two mags. Hate to have saved all that money only to ruining it.

Is it a stock finish or aftermarket? An aftermarket finish will slightly change the tolerances of the slide to frame fit, making it tighter. It will take a couple boxes of ammo to smooth out, and yes you may have a jam or two in the first couple hundred rounds.

Another thing is to make certain that the gas piston and tube are sufficiently clean.

You really need to fire the pistol before getting worried.

You really need to fire the pistol before getting worried.Exactly! The P7 has such a strong spring that it can't be properly hand cycled to duplicate what happens when it's actually fired.

The dynamics of what occurs during live fire vs. hand cycling are hugely different. As others have mentioned, you need to fire the pistol to see how it will operate.

The closest you will come to replicating chambering in the P7 is to lock the slide back, insert a full mag, and drop the slide using the squeeze cocker. Do this in a safe area obviously.

Yeah, you'll probably get at least a few more. Fortunately mine are fairly celibate, I only have 4 of them. For other people they multiply like rabbits. Someone posted their P7 collection the other day (look in the member gallery I think) that had what, 70 of them, maybe 80?
