Not sure if this is a dumb question or not, but because I try to be thrifty with my money and make it last I'm reluctant......

I have been going to purchase an easy to carry/conceal handgun for my wife to carry or keep in the glove box when she is not with me.

The kicker is I didn't want to spend a large amount on something kept in the glovebox. She's not crazy about the idea of herself packing a concealed weapon. So I was looking for something mainly reliable. Bersa .380, cz83 maybe...

long story short...I have a friend who just bought an HK USP 40c which is on backorder for the next two months. Changed his mind on wanting it and just wants to stick with his Glocks.....Though I already have one...He said I could have it for $600....Brand New with two mags, night sights and LEM trigger.....Should I buy it and get the glove box gun later? The price just sounds too good to pass. Mine was if I remember about $900 after taxes and everything...Maybe I paid too much...As thrifty as I am..this was a splurge! I really liked the gun!

Thanks,

Chadflys

Of course you should buy the HK!

That sounds like a great deal. Even if it is used for a glove box gun it will hold its resale value better than an inferior weapon.

I would buy your friends USPC .40 too, $600 is hard to beat for NIB.

I would strongly urge to never ever keep a firearm in the glove box. If she is ever stopped for a traffic violation, a pistol in a glove box will bring tons more grief and litigation than any speeding or seat belt ticket. Plus if the vehicle is ever broken into, the pistol most likely will end up on the street and be related to any number of crimes, by who knows who.

Get her a CCW permit and the proper training to do so, a lot of women carry in their purse. With training and knowledge, come confidence. :)

That'san excellent price. I would go for it, even if it was for the glove compartment.

My wife does have her permit, just does not like the idea of actually wearing the gun. I have told her as well about the problem of the car getting broke into and the gun stolen, but that is as far as I got. It would have to be a chance taken and just report it as stolen if it happened. The other problem is she works at the VA hospital and they cant even carry pepper spray, so the gun would have to stay in the car and off federal property....it's really "BS" to me to be in one of highest crime areas of Memphis and without the VA providing good security. This gun would not be a glove compartment gun. I'd get something less expensive for that since I cannot convince her to holster the weapon. This was just a gun offer that is really hard for me to turn down.

As far as the price is concerned, yes, it's a bargain! If this gun is for her, however, she may not like the USP compact in 40SW - depending on her size and arm/hand strength, it may be a bit "snappy" for her.
