View Full Version : Made a mistake? need advice..
What I really wanted was a USP Tac in 40 or 45 cal. but became stingy....so instead I got a full size USP40 (which now has less than 60 rounds through it) NOW I sort of REGRET IT!!!
So in your opinion, money wise, what would be the best choice from here?
1.-Trade it in but get ripped off by local gun shop (again)
2.-Try to sell it, but I don't want to waith
3.-Swap in a threaded barrel but that will bring my cost from 820 to 1095
4. Bite the bullet keep this gun and get a new tactical usp an extra 1100
Note: Keep in mind all I really want is a threaded barrel feature, I can live without the match trigger and adjustable sights

If you bought that USP40 new, there is really no likely scenario where you're not going to lose some money. IMHO, the scenario where you'll lose the least amount of money is selling the gun yourself.
(I made a similar "mistake" after buying a P2000SK, firing 20 rounds through it, and then deciding to carry my P7 instead. Sat in my safe awhile gathering dust before I decided to bite the bullet and send it to a new home.)
Trust me, you DO want the USP Tactical in 40 or 45. Yes, you get the threaded barrel, but you also get the adjustable tall sights to look over the can. Furthermore, you get an incredible match trigger that is worth every dime.
IMHO, half of a gun's personality comes from its trigger. Patience. Sell the USP40 on this forum, and then get what you really wanted in the first place!

I vote #4, but then, I'm one of those people who likes to have a spare everything (I have 2 of almost every gun I own, except my P30 and P7, but I will).

I would recommend trading the USP40 for a USP 45C, and then also buy a USP Tactical. Think of all the money on ammo you will save since they use the same!

GB is another option. I'd say keep it if you can tho. 2 Hk's are always better than 1.

You don't hate the gun. You hate that you didn't buy the gun you really wanted. Keep it, or you'll regret selling it, too.

The truth has been spoken.
I was told as a kid to never sell a gun...save and get the ones I wanted. I have only broken from that advice twice and have felt regret. I try to not break that rule any longer.

Between 2 Glock (19 & 23C) , XD .45 Tactical, Bushmaster AR15, Remington 1100. I regret selling / trading for all the guns I have now. I wish I would have kept them and purchased what I have now with cash or Credit :) With Time, Age our needs change. I just recently purchased a HK45 initially for a "Plastic Trunk Gun". Once I shot it it will now be becoming my Primary Carry (TRP is retiring). My sold / traded plastic Glock or XD would have been perfect. NOW I AM STILL WITHOUT A PLASTIC TRUNK GUN!! Guess I have to buy another HK45... See what I mean MORE MONEY!
The Remington 1100 could have been put by my closet near Kitchen for my SHTF. I now have a Mossy 930 taking its place.
What I am saying is I learned that if my money isn’t right, I don’t SELL a gun to get another, in the long run you lose money and only have one gun out the deal. Get a Credit Card or Save Cash and buy it additionally. Hell you might be like allot of folks out here cleaning Out there safes due to the fact they owe taxes and need cash. Guns have always been a Good Investment, More Guns More Money to bring in :)
Keep the USP! Buy another!
I kind of followed everybodys advice. I decided to not hate the gun and opted not to sell it either. I thought it was better to loose money and keep it than loose money by selling it or trading her in, so I decided to upgrade her instead:
1- Ordered a threaded barrel from Midway
2- I am in the process of buying Meprolight night sites
3- Will order a flash hider too (for looks..je je)
I hope to start saving for my next gun (SL8-6, an HK45, an FNP-45 or a P30L 40cal when they became available)
I thank all for your comments

I would look for the Tactical as you try to sell your gun yourself, the trigger on mine is a lot better than my stock full size USP 45. I got the the Tactical in 45acp because thats me...you can suppress the 40 and 9 a little better if you shoot subsonics a/c the smaller hole. The Tactical is twice as accurate as my reg. USP but that could just be that particular gun...all tho I would have to give some credit to the trigger which is very nice. And like Benderx4 said you will want the higher sights for the can, I assume you are buying. ;-)

I think you would have been better off buying the Tactical rather than modifying a standard USP, but . . . now that you have committed yourself to this course of action, you will DEFINITELY want the match-trigger too.
If it's not too late, I would cancel the parts orders, and get the Tactical. A modified USP will cost more than the Tactical, and it will still only be a modified USP if you ever need to sell it.

Yes. I know selling a gun is BAD, but you should always consider this as an option to be ready for uncertain future. If you really want the Tactical model, you should save up and buy one or eat the cost and sell your USPf.
Hope things work out for you as I know this yearning for particular guns.
Call me "KRAZY" but this is the base of my reasoning:
I knew that at the end of the day it will end up with a modified USP but I have plan B:
I only plan to use the stock barrel for practice at the range. The threaded barrel will get installed only after I clean my gun and will remain unused unless while installed I am forced to use it to protect the saintity of my home. So if I ever decide to sell this gun, I would sell the new, unused, threaded barrel separate and the gun would sell with the stock barrel, this way i will not loose that much money. In other words the inbound barrel is for me a mere toy, money well spent (until my wife finds out!!)
As for my next gun: I can almost see a 40/45 tac in my future

Go get the TAC. If you spend more trying to trick out your USP you will STILL want a TAC and have that much less to buy one with!!
