Howdy fellas.
First off, let me just introduce myself. My name is Kyle, 20 yrs old. Active Duty Army stationed at Hood. My birthday is coming up, May 26 to be exact and I'm looking to get my CCW as a present to myself.
One of my NCO's has a P7 and after going to the range with him one weekend, I fell in love with the damn thing. I also got ahold of a USP9C while I was there. Basically the HK bug has hit me.
My question is, I've been doing a little shopping and I was just wondering what a P7 would run me. I got a quote from a guy here in Texas, he said anywhere from $1100-$1300. First thing I asked him is why so much, he couldn't give me a straight answer. So, can anyone help me out?
I'm not looking for a set price, like, $1299.55. General idea would be helpful so I could give the wife an estimate.
Thanks.

If it doesn't have to be the M13 you will be able to find a LNIB P7 for between $700-800. If I wanted one of these that is what I would do - the variants are getting on for close to double that (and in my opinion for little good reason) Welcome aboard!

The M13's are closer to 2k. The price you were quoted was for a P7M8 most likely.

You can get plain P7s (most of which are police tradeins) for approx. $600 or so. They are not actually PSPs, which are in fact a separate model, but that's what everybody calls the P7s to differentiate them from the M8s, M13s, and M10s. HK even calls them that in their manuals, since they have the same features.
P7M8s can be found for $1,000 or a little less or so for used ones if you shop around. New condition ones are more in the $1100-$1200 range you were quoted, and absolute new ones will be more like $1300-$1400.
M13s can go for as much as $1900 or so, but I've seen a few here recently for more like $1500.
They're expensive because 1) they are amazing handguns (which you already have learned and 2)they are no longer in production. The P7M8s may be made again at some point, or they might not.
Plain P7s, P7M13s, and P7M10s will likely never be made again.

while the P7's are great guns.....you might be better off with the USPc, alot cheaper in all ways(as if you get a P7....you will want more)

Be careful! Kinda like potato chips - hard to eat/buy just one!

Thanks fellas. Another reason I wanted the P7 is because it's relatively small. I have really small hands, so much so that I can't fire the M9. I have to adjust my grip just to hit the slide release. If I can't find a P7 that I want, I'll pick up a USPC.
Oh, what does LNIB mean?

The first Google search result says it could be either Like New In Box or possibly the Loch Ness Investigation Bureau
There's also New In Box (NIB), Brand New In Box (BNIB), New In Wrap (NIW)
If you have small hands, have you tried a P30? It has an adjustable grip that a lot of people really like. And you might want to hold one of the P7s before you think of spending $1500 or more on a handgun. A lot of people think the P7M13 is too hard to hold, it is .2" wider than a P7M8 or P7.

I know I will get shot for saying this, but do you want to consider a the USP9C or P2K LEM in 9mm? The gun will cost about $750 and you can get hi-caps at a decent price($35).
P7, P7PSP and P7M8 magazines are around $60 a piece.
P7M13 mags are around $100 a piece.
I went with USP's first. The were cheaper in the past. Nowadays everything HK costs at least $700. I lucked into a cheap P7M8($695). I bought two P7 German police trade-ins at $600 a piece. I made sure to get a bunch of magazines. I knew they would only be shipping a finite amount of P7 (PSP) magazines to the U.S. I just bought a P7M13 with five magazines for $1750.
Everybody who doesn't own a P7 likes to throw stones. "A Glock is just as good and CHEAPER." That's very true, but why keep making the comparison? All of my HK's have been super reliable. I don't need to compare them to anything. I pick up my P7 after not having shot it for 6+ months and it hits wherever I am aiming. I cannot say that for many of the non-hk firearms I have owned.
If you have the money GET A P7!! Make sure you have enough money to get at least five magazines.
It can be difficult to find a holster. I had good luck recently with Don Hume.

If you want a P7 because you have small hands, you'll DEFINITELY prefer the P7M8 over the P7M13

I agree with AviatorDave, try a P30 before dropping over $1000 for an P7M8, and don't overlook the original P7 as its the same gun minus the heat shield (good for an extra 8-10 rounds before you finger burns) and standard mag release (as opposed to the heel European mag release, which I actually like a lot). My P30L is about as accurate as the P7, and the Polymer frame makes it lighter to carry.
