I bought a p7 a month ago gun show non import p7 in nickel finish with two mags , box , test target and 2 mags for 499.00. I called HK to ask if that was a factory nickel job and gave him the date code and said yes it wasfactory nickel. Guess that was a good deal.

Assuming that it is a P7M8 and in excellent condition, I'd say about $1500. I am not aware of P7 PSPs that had a nickel finish from the factory. The P7M8, P7M10, and P7M13 were available with such a finish.

could you post a pic of R side of slide & frame, please? I am interested in serial # & date code. Very rare for non-import P7(PSP) to have date code. I have never seen a PSP to have factory nickel finish.

That is what i thought they were not nickel plated as well from factory he said back then spme were so not sure sights, barrel and frame and internals all nickel plated I will post pictur later. The date code is IB 1981. There are no import marks on it. Just has HK Inc Arlington VA 22201. Serial number 5 digit starts with 200xx.

If the "HK Inc Arlington VA 22201" is still visible on the right-front of the slide, then it sounds like you have a genuine factory nickel P7 PSP. Very nice. I own two from that era (with IA and IC datecodes), and when I had my IA one hard-chromed, the "HK Inc Arlington VA 22201" importer markings were obliterated as a result. Here are mine:

It is interesting that the sights and trigger have been hard-chromed. I can understand the trigger, because the P7 PSPs from that era had all-steel triggers, whereas they began making them with a polymer coating.

that isn't factory is it?

the finish has a greyish hue; does not look like nickel or chrome , but could be the light. I cannot see the rollmarks, but if it has Arlington VA, then it is the importer. The exposed mag release would be compatible w/ an early production P7 (PSP) imported thru HK at Arlington, not a surplus. I still suspect the finish is aftermarket.

When I called HK I gave him the date code and he said more than probably it is. I asked him if I gave him serial number if that would help narrow it down. But he said that would not help. I just find it intresting that the sights and barrel and trigger were all coated. He actually called it (something ?) nickel I think it started with and m Sorry for the ignorance.

You have a nicely refinished P7, but it is not a factory nickel gun.

Was electroless nickel the "something?" Electroless nickel is a common plating method, it just means that it was done without use of an external electrical current.

Due to the sights, barrel, and trigger also all being plated as you say, it more than probably is not factory original. But if you had the incination, it would be easy to return those to what would be more factory correct.
