So here goes: a local dealer has a (used) P7M13 on the shelf @ 800 USD (a little less than what seems to be the going rate around here - sorry guys  ). Externally, I'd say it's better than mint. But, apart from shooting it, what's the best way to determine whether it's in good condition ? Which parts should I pay attention to when inspecting it, and how (bear with me - Glock guy here) ? Thanks in advance !

As long as your SURE it's an M13 who cares lol for 800 bucks?? Gotta buy it
if it doesn’t fall apart when you lift it up...its gotta be worth 800 bucks! Just pop the slide off and check the gas piston...but all in all if the cocking mech in the grip works and isn’t broken...not alot that can go wrong in my opinion...I have one I carry on duty for over 17 yrs with 1000's n 1000's of round through it with not ONE single part being changed, fixed, etc and I honestly can NOT remember a FTF, FTE, ANY problem what so ever other then maybe burning my palm one time during long, high round count drills, when you grab the slide to cycle it...its DAMN hot lol other then that...BUY IT!!!!!!
The mags alone are worth 75 bucks each easily
PS...where is the store and how late is he open :) :D

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. I knew here's a friendy bunch. Yes, I am absolutely sure it's an M13. When I mentioned the "going rate around here", I mean Holland and Belgium - at the moment, I know of about 4 M13s for sale between (converted) 800-950 USD (the last one for a LNIB).
Anybody else willing to chime in ?

Sure,
Remove the slide. check the gas psiton for wear. The rings should be fairly sharp. Look at the underside of the slide and make sure the drop safety and drop safety spring are present. Take a flashlight and look down into the gas chamber. Check for heavy carbon buildup in the rear of the chamber. Check the frame out for any cracks etc. This would be from dropping it or whatever.
Not likely to find any. reassemble slide. Remove firing pin bushing and check for cracks or that its broken. Reinstall firing pin. Insert pencil, eraser end first, into barrel. Tilt straight up. Squeeze cock, pull trigger. Pencil should jump up indicating good firing pin strike. Repeat, except this time, decock the pistol instead of pulling trigger. Pencil should not jump up, indicating everything is working correctly.
Enjoy it....
