I'm going to buy either a USP 45 tactical or a HK45. I am accustomed to shooting thumb humping thumb or whatever you want to call it. I remember from the Break my HK45 thread that Mr. Bell said that for some shooters they accidently de-cock the HK45 in recoil. Is the HK45 decocker more senstive than the standard USP decocker? Does it take less pressure to decock the HK45?
I have seen plenty of guys shooting the usp with very high and firm holds on the gun and haven't seen them decock.
Thanks

I have a .40 Tactical.
I'll tell you this, the match trigger is SWEET!
Being a 1911 guy, you WILL WANT the match trigger either way you go.

I'm going to sell my Kimber 1911 and put it towards a Full size USP in .45 I'm trying to decide between the USP 45 or the 45 tactical. I have no plans of putting a suppressor on it and I have no use for the tall sights. I plan on shooting this gun extensively, carrying it ccw, and putting a light on it for the nightstand.
Should I:
A) buy the tactical and swap out the tall match sights (which I don't like) for regular night sights of my choosing and benefit from the match trigger and etxta .6 inches of barrel.
or
B) Just buy the regular USP and save the extra money because I'm not good enough to tell the difference in accuracy the trigger and barrel will give.
Don't tell me not to sell my 1911.
Well if you can CCW a full size .45 USP and not print you can I am sure you could the same with a tactical.. I'd go for the tactical if price isn't an issue. It seems as if size isn't an issue.

+1 on the Tactical!
The trigger and o-ring barrel alone are worth the little extra. Plus if you ever decide to suppress in the future, that's a threaded barrel you won't have to drop $$ on. The Tactical is currently my favorite. Good luck!

Well gents, it's going to happen sooner rather than later. The original reason I considered the 45 tact is because I wanted a mark23 but just can spend the cash. Yall have sucessfully pushed me over the edge. I'll unload my 1911 this week and apply for a purchase permit. I'll get that in a week or two and call my dealer. Then a day or to later drive out and pick it up. Thanks for the boost.

You could always pick up a full size USP in .45ACP and install the match trigger. Yes, the match trigger does make a difference. On the other hand for CCW the USPc .45, or HK45c won't print the way a full size USP .45, or .45 Tactical will.

The Tac is the right choice. :660:
I know you said USP but it sounds like, based on your requirements and intended use, that the HK45 would be your best bet. Since you are not putting a suppressor on it, the only benefit to the Tactical is the trigger. While the HK45 does not have the trigger stop like the Tactical, it does have a match trigger. I love the trigger on my HK45. The HK45 also has an O-ring barrel like the Tactical. Furthermore, the HK45 has a Picatinny rail to mount your flashlight on; the USP does not. The HK45 also has interchangeable grip panels and better ergonomics, as well a longer sight radius than either USP.

You are correct that considering the criteria I first posted the HK45 would be the better choice. However, I recently found out that I can get a surpressor in my county. In my first post I was under the impression that the sherrif would not sign off on it, but I found out that he will and does. Also, after handeling a friends HK USP fullsize 45 I now recongize that concealing it would be a circus. I will stick with my duty gun, M&P 40 fullsize for off duty/concealed carry.
With the new criteria of a kick as$ range gun/night stand gun in 45 I think the Tac will definently fill the bill.
Thanks for your responses.

You are going to LOVE the USP Tactical 45. . .(and it happens to be my personal favorite HK pistol). :)

I actually held a HK45 today, since my last post. It's over. HK45 it is. No contest, felt way better in my hand than the USP45. Maybe I'll get a threaded barrel down the road....

Greetings Serpico1985,
Why limit yourself to just one of these world class weapons . . . save your money . . . get both. Go with the HK45 now, "roll your own" with an additional threaded barrel, then get the USP45 Tactical down the road. See . . . the solution is simple!

I knew you would love it once you handled it.

The HK45 also has interchangeable grip panels and better ergonomics, as well a longer sight radius than either USP.I thought the HK45 only has interchangeable back straps, not grip panels. I don't own one, but I do have a P30.

You are correct. I meant back straps, not grip panels, sorry.

You are correct. I meant back straps, not grip panels, sorry. No problem, I asked because the web site has it wrong, and I thought maybe I missed something:
"Ergonomic grip profiles with user replaceable grip panels to adjust the feel and grip circumference of the weapon to suit individual operator hand size and shooting preference"

I'll have my HK45 in hand Friday. Hopefully I'll be able to shoot it and provide a range report.

Just got my HK45 today. Put 58 rounds of Georgia Arms 230gr FMJ through it on the way home (at a range, no road rage). I have to say, I have absolutely no regrets about selling my 1911 (Kimber custom II black). This gun with the larger back strap feels like it was made for my hands. If feels better than any other hand gun I have held. I shot it well and the SA trigger is absolutely great. I didn’t experience any of the trigger guard biting into my hand that some shooters have, lucky I guess. I really like the o-ring barrel. I can feel the o-ring catching the inside of the slide when I slowly let the gun go into battery. I can also feel it when field stripping the gun. Very tight lock up with no play at all. I like the sights a lot. When I took it out of the box I shot it with a led light for a few seconds and the sights lit up bright. For normal everyday shooting they are excellent. I will likely put Heine straight eights on them when I recover from the financial hit from the gun.
I already have a Sig 220 Combat so I now have Sig and H&K’s offering for the military pistol program. Love my Sig but right now the HK45 takes the cake. Can’t wait to put a ton of rounds through this gun.

Welcome to the club! I recently got my HK45 also and after shooting it back-to-back with my USP Tactical for the last month or so and while I preferred the Tac trigger at first, I have grown to love the HK45. So much so that I'm gonna sell my Tactical and then send my HK45 for the overtravel stop.
