I have a USP C 9MM V9, just wondering is there a safe way to cary it in DA mode? I am a little hesitant to cary it in SA with the safety on. Also does leaving it in a SA mode wear on the hammers spring? I have read else where The control lever has no decocking function on variants 9 and 10 so one would have to carefully lower the hammer manually.

Not something I would want to try with a round in the chamber. :)

Yes you can carry it in DA with safe on or off. It's up to you.

I do believe that V9 and V10 were designed to be carried in SA mode with the Safe ON.

I've carried V9 for years. I think the safest way to carry it is cocked and locked. I'd say either carry and practice C/L or swap to a different variant. I would discourage lowering the hammer on a loaded chamber as just being a recipe for disaster If you want to carry DA/SA, then just buy the correct detent plate. They cost about 5$ and easy to swap out.
