Anyone have one of these?

I'm looking to get a good carry piece for the ridiculously hot AZ summers, and find that, while I love the gun, my Hk45 is just not always the best option for CC with this heat, and having to wear baggy shirts is not really my style anyway. I'll still probably carry the Hk45 in the winters though :) Do you think that getting the SK (compact) model is worth it for a 6'1 guy (I'm fairly athletic in body type, if that helps the decision-making for which model for CC), or is either one a good carry piece?

I'm looking at .357 Sig since I feel under-gunned with 9mm (not trying to start a caliber war, just personal preference) and don't really like .40 S&W very much. I also am heavily influenced by the FBI's analysis of the cartridge, and feel that if they think it's the bees knees, then who am I to disagree with them? Then what I did was look to see if HK had any offerings in this caliber, and the P2000 was the first gun that came up. I reload so I'm not too concerned about the cost of practice ammo. Again, really not trying to open that old caliber war can of worms, but felt I should throw that out there since the cartridge is relatively rare.

What would be a good price for a decent used one?

Thanks! :D

I have one that I was going to post on here tomorrow with pics. It has about 3500 rnds threw it, zero malfunctions. Trijicon night sights, 4 13rn mags, safariland als duty holster, don hume iwb leather, and all of the original equipment. Nice little package for someone.

I have both P2000 SK and P2000 but in 9mm. P2000SK it is amazing shooter for smaller size gun. I would choose P2000 SK over P2000 due to the size for CCW. If you want more grip and extra 3 or 2 rounds of ammo get x-grip for P2000Sk and the grip size will be the same as P2000.
P2000Sk it is one of the best small package guns for CCW. X- grip works great for me.

I like the 357 Sig ( I wish it will be soon for P30 with V1 >>>> ) but my wife would not handle it. Great caliber.

I have the P2000 V3 in 357 Sig (it came from HK with the .40 bbl. also with three 12 round mags.) I like it a lot and prefer the 357 round to the .40, (better acuracy in this particular gun and a bit less recoil than the .40.) I would vote for the standard size over the SK personally. I think that it is about as easy to conceal and the extra barrel length improves the velocity of this round that depends on velocity for its effectiveness.

I have the P2k's in all calibers (no sk's). They are quite nice. I've seen them sell for about 600 give or take, depending on number of clips, & night sights or not.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Anyone have any actual numeric values on the used guns' value? I have seen one that is pretty much 100%, maybe a few hundred rounds through it - owner just couldn't afford the ammo.

As far as CCW goes, with my Hk45, IWB, the biggest problem is the grip, where the magazine can cause a slight print when I wear a somewhat tight shirt, or crouch (like in a supermarket to look at a bottom rack), and it just jams into any seat that I sit down into. The size of the barrel doesn't matter so much. With this in mind, would the SK really be a better bet, or would you think a P2000 would be adequately concealable as is?

Again, thanks for the replies! :)

Blue Book on a P2000 w/o night sights is $550 in 95% condition. I just picked up a used one in 9mm for $540 with ~400rds fired from my brother in law this weekend and LOVE it w/ the LEM. I just wish my sights weren't off to the left for everyone that has shot it :(

I have a HK P2000 357 sig w/lem. I think this gun is sensational.
I live in Florida so do not carry it a lot.
If you are tall it would be easy to conceal. Get a flat floor plate for your carry magazine. Makes it more concealable.
Get it, you will not be sorry.

Thanks for the Blue Book figure.

I saw a guy selling one for $680, obviously that's too high. If he'll budge I'll probably buy, but he's being fairly obstinate at the moment.

They seem to be pretty hard to find (in this chambering anyway), but it seems like there are nothing but good things to be said about them, so I've definitely decided to buy at this point.

When you guys carry one, do you carry hammer back, round chambered? There's no safety, so cocked/locked isn't an option, which makes me wonder if round chambered, hammer down is the best way to carry it or not.

Yes, hammer down is the only safe way to carry a DA/SA pistol without a manual safety, and most folks will tell you to keep a round chambered (and for very good reason). I love a little bit of .357, and expect that you will not regret the decision to buy. $680 sounds high to me, especially considering the "unpopular" calibre. $600 for LNIB or extra mags would sit better with me, but then I am a shark for a deal. Of course more use and less toys = lower price (at least it should). Good luck.

get the 40 and get a 357 barrel or vice versa, now you have 2 calibers. thats what i did with my p2000sk.

Last question: how would you say it compares to a USP compact?

Is either easier for CC, or would you say that I'd be very happy with either one?

P2000 is slimmer then USP compact. I would get P2000 over USP compact.

USP is boxy reminds me more glock. I owned USP compact and traded in for P2000 for this reason.
