I finally qualified with my Hk45C, off-duty/back up gun today. I had no failure to feed or eject. I also had no problems with the slide not remaining open. However, here is what I observed. 1st rd--double-2 single-3 single-4 single-5 double-6 single-7 single-8 double. Why does my hammer not remain cocked? I was told it maybe the sear? The gun has had a total of (56) rds down the pipe since NIB..

I once saw something like this on a gun that the range had for rent. The hammer would not stay back for crap, you had to wiggle it just right to get it to catch for Single Action. As far as why it is happening, no clue, I just have not taken mine apart that far to know how it works, but I am sure that someone will chime in.

Do you have a habit of riding the safety, 1911 style? If you do, there's the problem. You are accidentally decocking during recoil. That is why a lot of people use to 1911s go for the variant 9 instead of V1 so they won't decock. If you do take your thumb off the safety when shooting then there may be a problem but I'm betting you're riding the safety.

I'm 100% certain I'm not riding the safety/decock. I will shoot again soon to see if it occurrs again. Thanks brothers.

Plus one on the above. I also see that it is happening on the later rounds where as the magazine is emptying, you tend to get a little more recoil, thus more prevalent with the self de-cocking.

Well, I shot again today. I fired 24 rds and 2 were DA. First, was on the 7th rd. and the second was on the last rd. My Assist. Chief fired a mag as well as the Chief.....no problems. Bigbore, apparently you are correct, it is me and not the Hk45C. I'm glad it is me and not my beauty.
Practice is needed!
