Well, I have had my first SNAFU with HK. I bought a brand new P2000SK in April. It was missing the Med grip. The large was installed. I notified HK and they told me I could get a replacement for a small amount, $7, but there was a 60 to 90 day wait. I am going to call the dealer I got the gun from, but HK should have coughed up a grip. I also got a P2000 just recently and I am trying to match the two guns up as far as feeling is concerned. Right now I am using the Large on both, but believe the Med on the SK would give me more control of the weapon. Would love to try it though. Sorry for the belly aching. Recent surgery has me homebound and getting pretty grouchy, sorry wifey!

The P2KSK I bought about that time only had two back straps also. One installed and another in a bag. I thought they were supposed to come with three (2 loose & 1 installed).

The pistol was NIB, but with an AE date code. Was there something changed in between now and then I wonder?

P2K comes with three extras, the SK only with one extra.

Thanks BB, that issue is now cleared up.

That's right BigBore, MY NEW P2K came with FOUR grips and the factory just told me, the 2000 has four grips and the SK, is SUPPOSED to have TWO grips. I have the email in their own words, FOUR and TWO. Seems there is a factory SNAFU, and why won't they pick-up the tab?

Are they quantifying this as: (X) backstraps loose in bags + (1) backstrap on the frame?

This would provide the solution for both Big Bore's and H&K's replies.

P2000 has medium grip on the gun when it leaves HK-USA and has a small, large, and x-large separate in a bag. The P2000SK comes with the medium installed and a large as an extra. If you need the medium, then someone has switched them and lost or took the medium out.

Don't be so quick to flame HK, because they know what comes with the gun. If the medium is not with the gun, of course they are going to quote you for a replacement.

Did you speak to a Rep. or did you just email them? It makes a difference.

I have e-mailed twice and tried to call a couple of times. The SK came with the Large installed and the MED missing. In light of the fact there is a 60 to 90 day wait for getting any of the items, I will try to get back with my dealer first, then get back to HK. I won't flame them yet, I guess I have been pampered by other companies and must realize I am in the midst of some sort of massive run on gun manufacturers that we have not seen recently.

This is not a criticism of you, but this is precisely why I only buy fully complete packages. Of course back straps are not that important in the grand scheme of things, but replacing missing bits and bobs (either for your own use or to help with resale value) and having to rely on HK parts supply is a challenge that I intend to avoid as much as possible. 6 month for this, 2 months for that, maybe in 90 days &c for everything - always silly timescales and time estimates that usually end up as numbers plucked out of the air and bear no semblance to real life. Call on two different days and get two different answers, join the queue, back order and then forget about it. Their frontline staff are FOS half the time when it comes to if and when things will be available. Anyway buy complete and hope that you never need something, but I guess you know that now.

I should add that in a previous life I worked for companies who were actually HQ'd overseas and so I know enough about how that goes to not hold HKUSA completely responsible, but jeez it sure does get old.

Anyway all of this said it says an awful lot for the product itself for me (or us) to put up with the nonsense that comes along with the ownership of it.........
