I want to buy either a P2000, preferably .40, or the HK45. They would be my first semi-auto. I have held them both and they fit my hands like a glove. I do want to shoot them before purchasing. I have read about ranges renting guns but, I do not know of any in New York. I am on Long Island but, could make a little day trip of it. Any suggestions?

You may want to decide/research the caliber you want to carry first, then go from there.

Since you asked, yes I do -- Buy the HK45! If you were to have only one gun, I can't think of a better one than this. IMHO, no comparison between the two. Every now and then, a gun maker builds a gun that is just ....... right. Beretta 92FS, Browning High Power, Sig P229, Ruger 10/22, S&W Model 65, Colt Python ...... you get the picture. The P2000 is a good gun, you wouldn't be wrong in buying one, but the HK45 sits among the other GREAT guns listed above. Good luck and happy shooting!
