I am looking into getting a LEM trigger for my USP .40 V1. I know this is a well worn thread but I have not seen anyone on here posting if the upgrade was worht it. Also I was curious if anyone knew what pound pull the LEM trigger is. Thanks!

I have a USPc and a P2000 with LEM and a USPf in V1. I really like the consistent pull with my LEM guns over the V1. I'm debating sending the V1 model in to get the Combat Competition LEM trigger installed on it.
You can vary the pull weight of the LEM depending on what springs are installed along with the kit. I believe the standard weight of the LEM is around 8 lbs. With different springs you can get the pull down to about 5 lbs. Take a look at the sticky above for the P2000/SK/USPc LEM trigger job for more info on the pull weight.

I just got new P2000sk in V2 LEM and ordered lighter springs to bring it down to 5.5 lb trigger pull.
My new HK45C in V3 will get converted to LEM V1 also. I like the LEM trigger pull also.

quiet confidence,
chayse,

I had my USP 45f converted to the "Combat Competition"trigger set up and it is awesome. That is the only word that does it justice. Travis at HK did the work on my pistol and it actually came back looking nicer than when I sent it to him (just like he said it would). I can't remember the trigger pull spec of the top of my head buy I think it is around 4.5 or 5 lbs. It is super smooth with no creep and minimal over travel.

My USP is a carry gun so I had him install the standard (heavier) LEM hammer spring in my gun to thoroughly ensure ignition. I also adjusted my over travel stop to allow for a little bit of over travel in case any foreign debris made its' way between the over travel stop and the frame. And I also put a drop of black loctite (380 instant adhesive) on the threads of the over travel screw once I was happy with the adjustment. I guess I am just extremely anal about making sure my gun will go BANG when I pull the trigger. LOVE THE LEM!!!!!!

I have a P2000sk w/ LEM trigger and it's awesome. I ordered two springs from H&K and lightened the pull down to around 5lbs. The factory V2 LEM pull is around 8 to 8.5 lbs. The lighter LEM pull (ie V1 LEM, not to be confused with the V1 DA/SA on the USP) is about 5 to 5.5 lbs. Well worth the $15 investment to lighten the pull IMHO. However, I can see why some people would just keep the standard 8 lbs LEM pull since it's still a rather nice trigger pull for a carry/defense pistol.

I just sold (and regret it) my USP.40c. It had the V1 DA/SA trigger with safety+decock lever. I can't say I prefer one trigger system over the other. Depends on the application I guess. If it's a DEDICATED carry weapon, the LEM makes more sense. If it's going to be more of a home-defense and range gun, then I think the V1 DA/SA makes more sense. For your USPf .40, if it were mine I would keep it how it is. If anything, get the standard DA/SA match trigger installed.

I have both a V1 (safety/decock) USP45F and a V2 P2000 (.40). Shortly after purchase, I replaced the firing pin block and trigger return springs in my P2000 and could not have been happier with the outcome. As I recall it dropped from about 8 lb. to right around 5.5 lbs. Even though I don't ride the reset, I happen to really like the lighter weight and consistency of the LEM system.

If I had it my way and still actually shot my USP, I'd convert it to LEM as well and get rid of that God awful long DA trigger pull (of course, my hands are just a tad too small—but that's a whole other issue). I know a lot of people on here think it's redundant and unnecessary, but I also prefer an external safety (ala 1911) even with the LEM system. While the issue of it being safer or not is contentious, to me it is foremost a grip preference/training issue, but to each his own ...

You said yourself that you like an external safety. Maybe I misunderstood what you were trying to say.

Whats the difference between your 45f Combat Comp setup VS your 45f LEM w/Combat Comp return spring?

I've converted the LEM P2K and SK over to V1 LEM and two of my Compact .45 shooter pistols over to V1 LEM, so yah, I'd say it was worth it. Otherwise I sure wasted some time and money doing it.

Whats the difference between your 45f Combat Comp setup VS your 45f LEM w/Combat Comp return spring?

My USP 45f Combat Competition setup has the complete Combat Competition trigger assembly in it (Sear, Sear Spring, Trigger Return Spring, Trigger, etc). My USP 45f LEM with Combat Competition Trigger return spring has the regular LEM trigger but I installed the 209266 Trigger Return Spring that is used in the Combat Competition trigger setup. This drastically lowered my trigger pull weight, but doesn't have the trigger over travel stop and the incredibly crisp let off from the match sear assembly. Hope this answered your question.

PS They both are super cool to shoot but the Combat Competition is in a league of its' own for a stock trigger setup.

Worth it?

Hard to answer that one.

I have several pistols (Glock, XD, Sig, HK, Walther, Beretta) and like to have the trigger pulls and operation fairly consistent amongst them. My opinion is that the LEM and Sig's DAK trigger are designed to make their respective pistols operate like striker fired guns (e.g. Glock, XD) and have trigger pulls similar to them as well. In my experience, that is what happens.

I have a USPc 40 that I bought with LEM and like it very much. I recently bought a USP 45 that came as V1 and had Bill Springfield change it to a light LEM and perform trigger work on it. Nothing wrong with the V1 it came with but I just prefer LEM. Bill Springfield did excellent work and was very fast. Many others on this site recommend him as well.

If you like striker fired guns, you will probably like LEM.

What surprised me is how much more I like the light LEM vs. the standard LEM on my USPc 40. Where can I get a reduced power hammer spring for a USPc 40? Midway? Direct from HK?

Mind if I ask how much the Combat Comp LEM set you back and the turn around time? Really interested in getting it done.
Thanks.

Turn around time was pretty quick, couple weeks or so. The cost was about $150 plus shipping both ways. I had Travis at HK service my pistol and I would highly recommend requesting him when you call HK to get an RA number so you can send you USP in for the service. Send me a private message when you get it back to let me know how you like it. Travis pushed me toward getting that trigger setup when I was sending my pistol in to get converted to LEM and I am so happy I listened to him and got it done. Sweet Trigger.
