Hey. I received my new Hk45C factory TB today. I noticed that the Hk logo, a serial #, "AK" date code and "DE" are on the left side of the barrel and 45ACP on the right. Can anyone explain this?

Thanks.

That's normal from what I understand.

AK is the date code for 2009 and the DE means it's made in Germany.

45acp is the caliber. :D

I know what the markings mean, I was talking about the location of them on the barrel. Usually the "Hk" logo, 45 ACP and ser # are on the right side of barrel and on factory extra barrels, I have never had one with a ser # on it.
Thought maybe it was a screw up or maybe an original barrel for the Hk45CT that was to be, but didn't.

HK pistols have matched serial numbers on the barrel to match the slide/frame serial numbers.
Never seen an upgrade HK barrel with a serial number either, T is part of the serial number on it?

No 'T' (Tactical) model yet for the HK45/HK45C Series...but there are a lot of people asking for them! :)

Ahhh, I missed that part. So this was a threaded barrel you bought after the original purchase, and it has a serial number. Gotcha.

I wonder if this is just more of the recent development of HK serializing a lot more parts besides just receivers, like trigger packs, bolt heads, etc. Maybe they are now serializing all barrels too.

That's a new one on me, serializing a barrel that is not part of a firearm?

No,no,no,no. In fact each and every HK original TB has a serial number, AND the serial number is always on the other side of the barrel, remains unseen from the ejection port side. I think it's that way so as not to confuse with the original barrel that has a serial number that matches the frame serial number under the rail.

I have had factory Hk threaded barrels in the past, extra barrels that is, and they didn't have any ser. #s. They had "Hk" and "45ACP" on the right side. The last Hk45C TB I just sold about 2 months ago, did not have any ser. #s on it. This is why I have questions. I still love the barrel, I was just curious.

But do you like the gun?

Neither of my HK .357 SIG barrels, one USPC and one P2K, or either of the USPCT barrels that were bought after the fact had any serial numbers on them until I had them put on them. They all had caliber and HK on the side of the chamber and the proof and date code on the barrel, but no serial number anywhere. Of course that has been a couple of years back and the way the Germans change things anything can happen in two years.

Do I like the gun? Absolutely!!!! I love the Hk45/Hk45C/P30 series. They are the most attractive guns to date, IMO. I have (2) Hk45C pistols because it is my favorite.
