Got a quick question. Are the US Secret Service using the "MP5F" now?, instead of standard MP5?

On the subject of that "lonely trooper", if you look closely, you can see that he has a shirt over his rig. You can see his holster on his left hip and the duty belt. I would imagine he has body armor under there too.

The USSS was the very first US agency to field the MP5 with "F" style changes. However there are differences between the French Police "F" model MP5 and those developed for and issued to the Secret Service and now other buyers here. Most notably was the rubber buttpad added to the F model stock to insure passage of the USSS drop test (which it did easily). These guns also include the dual front sling eyebolts on the front sight holder, dual sling attachment bars on the retractable stock assembly (both now standard features) and ambidextrous "Navy" trigger group with Extended Safety/Selector Lever on the left side. Of course like all F models they also include the multi-strand wire firing pin spring and heavy duty plate locking roller holder.

That would be a submachine gun, NOT an assault rifle.

Cool pics. Most of the uniformed division have FN P90's now and they have never used HK precision rifles. Their own models in 7mm and 30-378 and now .338 Lapua and 50 cal.

During a potential national security threat as described what was going on changes the picture a lil bit on how they present themselves and why. Not knocking you but just think about it for a minute. If there's a potential threat and the package is highly visible and in the open.....the SS are already exposed at that point and on are on the ready to engage if need be.

Have thought about it. Perhaps you should think about it. The SS Agents in closest proximity to PRESUS are shields, not CQB operators. A guy dumps 200 rounds from a belt-gun 100 yards away those MP5s are useless, never mind a mortar or RPG attack. Either way, that still does not change the fact of my post - First time I have ever seen plain clothes USSS open carry near PRESUS. And I have been with the PRESUS and SS in many places a lot more dangerous than the South Lawn.
