My first love has always been the 1911. And I still have a lot of them and still enjoy shooting the heck out 'em as well. But I bought a USPc in .45 a good while ago and fell in love with it, too. Simple, straightforward design (read:uncomplicated), ultra reliable, not finicky for ammo, easy to teach with, indestructable, etc. So now I have that one, a Tactical .45, and an SL8-1.
Umm, my name is straightgrain and I have a problem...

The USP Tactical got me started with HK handguns.
But it's the uniqueness of the P7 and P9S that really hooked me.
Then there's the MP5...

I fell in love with the USP's ability to essentially be a 1911 w/ it's frame mounted safety - I carry it cocked and locked.

Dependable, accurate, long service life, light-weight, high enough capacity without overdoing it, and last but not least, they fit me better and point more naturally than any other semi I have owned or tried, including but not limited to Glock, SIG, S&W, Para Ordnance, Springfield Armory, Beretta, Ruger, Colt...

I didn't favor HK until I started carrying a weapon for self-defense. I reviewed the features I wanted in a carry gun and what I didn't want. The only gun that met my requirements was the USP45c and USP45. Once I got my USP45C I put the P220 in the safe for good.

I can't tell you why. Just a gut feeling. When I decided to get back into shooting first considered was Glock. Most of the younger LE types carry them, and rave about them. Then Sig. I went round and round and round. Price wise all were in the ball park if shopping on the internet. Local gun shop wise no way. In the gun stores I began to check the ergos. Once that USPf .45 went into my hand that was it. I had to have it. In the back of my mind I thought I would get a Sig next. I think a P2000 is going to foil that plan.

I like the legacy series of HK rifles because of the modularity and abundance of accessories for different missions/uses.
I like the USP series for their common ergonomics and controls from the largest to the smallest frame. HK USPs are also great suppressor platforms.

I think this slogan of H&K camptures the sentiments of most who have posted so far.

I feel so bad I didnt get an HK sooner and that I got other guns before i got the HK.
nough said :)
Guy's, I'm new on board, but let me say, it'll always come down to how well the shooter handles the handgun.
That being said I like the H&K, because of the way H&K overly engineer's thier handgun's if that means anything.
I would really injoy being able to purchase one of the newer H&K .45, that's going to come out this winter.
Now, should I or should I not, look into getting the USP .45? It's a tough choice to make. I've got enough handguns as it is.

Big Bore good to be here, I need to ask you, with the test you gave the G-21
and I have one now for my own reasons. How do you feel the H&K USP .45 would hold up?
I know the you put the G-21 through, but it's unclear about how the H&K worked out.
Big Bore, this isn't to start anything, I like them both.
And I'm really glad to be here.

Seriously. Dependability, dependability, dependability. As an armed citized if I ever have to pull the trigger I want my pistol to go *bang* as many times as I need it to, without hesitation and without concern.

Reliability, quality, the way they fit my hand (USP's). Did I mention reliabilty. Innovation too, HK have come up with some pretty daring designs over the years, and the best thing is they worked.

Correct, on AR15.com I am "Big-Bore" but most other boards I am "Big Bore." I do not know if AR15.com's "Bigbore" is a member here or not. If he is I have not seen his postings. He is as unashamed of being a Glock fan as I am of being a HK fan. Similar names but our choice of handguns differ a lot.
Might I add, Steve of ADCO is one hell of a great guy. If you need any AR parts, Steve is one of the good guys and a real asset to our community and he is a major "go-to" guy.

Thanks so much for your replies, and sorry for the mix up. The gentleman in question has also an H&K USP in .45. But nothing was mentioned about it in the tests he conducted for the G-21.
I thought he might have torture tested the H&K as well.
I like them both, but I'm so looking forward to seeing in person the newest H&K45, I just can't wait.

Also it felt very good in my hand, has a hammer and the safety is second nature to release it (and easy to reach, try a Baretta's, uggg).
Plus the Tac/23 are I beleive the only pistols specifically designed for suppression.

Its the little things. Glocks have a notch on thier feed ramp that snags some hollowpoint ammo. To be able to shoot HP's consistently, you must polish this notch out. HKs come polished and ready to work. Also, I like how the USPs are kind of like modernized 1911's. Looks are definitely on the HK's side, bonus points if you have a stainless slide.

They're comfy, accurate, tough, reliable, and I'd be lying if I didn't say part of the appeal is that there's some exclusivity with HK. I like that they're not the 'glock' of firearms.

Nobody engineers like Germans. HKs are wonderfully reliable, accurate, dependable weapons whose construction melds art, efficiency, and technology.

I like HK because of their quality products just like everyone else. I also like HK because you basically buy the gun and leave it alone. There's usually not too much to modify or improve on.....or anything that needs to be fixed for that matter. Reliability, reliability, reliability.

I think HKs are coolness factor!
When I first got in to guns, HK was the first gun maker to actually really get my attention with everything they made.

Like Billy Dee Williams says... "[HK] 45 - It works every time"
Nothing else shoots like the USP for me - natural, accurate and ridiculously reliable.
For a carry gun, the Glocks are a bit thick and (in my mind) that trigger is an accident waiting to happen. I'll trust my life with a P2000SK any day, and it conceals better.

I was strictly a Sig guy growing up until 2005 when I finally had enough extra cash to order my first HK. When that USPf arrived I fell in love with it because of the feel, reliability, accuracy, and easy maintenance. I liked it so much that two more HK's have showed up in my stable since that day. My P2000SK is my everyday carry piece and my new P30 is slowly becoming my favorite pistol (it needs to be in .40). Over the time that I've owned an HK I've seen the P2000 and now the P30 and HK45, and they are like a fine wine, and get better with age.

HK continues to come out with new designs that are very well thought out and work non-stop. They are an innovative company that produces high-quality pistols that are the basis by which all other handguns are judged. With a track record of 0 failures of any kind with both my USP's, as well as 0 malfuntions in the P7M8, P2000 and P30 I have the privelage of shooting regularly, it is hard to argue that HK is not the "king of the mountain".

first gun - springfield 1911
second gun - walther p99
third - HK USPc .40
i remember when i was in the shop picking up my walther, i asked to check out an uspc. the second i held it i wanted one. it fit absolutely perfect in my hand. i just couldn't afford one at the time. wish i would have just saved up for it instead of spending money on the walther lol. atleast i have one now. and after shooting it, i was hooked. pretty tight grouping the second clip and i haven't even shot much to begin with. great gun and is now my ccw.

Where do you want to start?
They all shoot great, no matter what model. I once owned a Gold Cup which at the time, I thought I shot fairly well. Then I shot a USP45. Completely, thoroughly, positively out shot the Gold Cup. Then I tried a USP9 and did even better! Sold the Gold Cup, got a USP9. Shot it quite a bit & was totally pleased.
I didn't shoot it again (for six years because I also shoot a lot of trap and just never got around to pistol shooting) until 2007, when I decided to get my CCW. Used the USP9 to qualify. All 60 of my shots, even the first DA shots, were in the scoring area, a 6" x 12" rectangle on a life size cardboard silhouette.
Bought a P2000 for carry and I like it even better than the USP.
Then I shot my buddy's P7M8! Cleaned six, 9" steel plates at 25yds as fast as I could aim and pull the trigger!
Then there's dependability...On the P2K, I have probably 1,000 rnds through it and no FTFs . On the USP9, probably 2,000 rnds and 1 FTF (I was using some off-brand factory reloaded stuff when the FTF occurred. The magazine was also dirty).
Then there's the German engineering & quality...Mercedes, BMW, Krieghoff, Walther, Bosch, Siemens etc. Any questions?
Just a note about German (over)engineering: I once hit a pothole on the PA Turnpike at about 85 mph in my '86 BMW. Of course it blew the tire, wrecked the wheel & threw the front end way out of alignment but other that that, no damage. In most other cars I would have been dead.)

Oh, and being supremely accurate, and reliable helps to :)
