3 for $60 at Shooters (http://www.sportsmansguide.com) and do a search for item HX6A-90152. They're on page 24 of the new catalog. I called to ask and was told they are factory HK and new.

Good deal if you ask me.

Before you order, make sure they are HK Factory mags....I emailed them and the reply I got stated that they are aftermarket mags....probably Promag.

Now I am confused! The original post said that a telephone call confirmed that they were HK product. Now, an email says that they are aftermarket. I wonder which is correct?

got the current mailer from SG, I think they called them "premium" HK 45 mags......which means they are not HK made...........can you say ProMag :)

Because it looked too good to be true, I CALLED AND ASKED. They told me that the manufacturer was HK.

Now, if the person I talked to on the phone gave me wrong information ...

Well, if they are HK, buy them up, but I would be pretty damn shocked at anybody selling 3 for the price of one. Promags go for about 20 a pop, right.

I can't say one way or another, I've bought stuff from them in the past without problems....but that price sure makes you wonder how they can sale the real thing that cheap. Only one way to find out...

I think I'll let somebody else be the guinea pig on this one. The hassle of having to return things and being out shipping charges is a major pain in the patoot. If they are ProGag, er, ProMag, the last thing I need is three more door stops in my house!

The picture shows a promag magazine. I don't think they are factory mags. If someone confirms that they are, I would definitely buy a set.

"Premium blued steel Mags, new manufacture, and half off... more if you buy a 3-Pk"

thats code for not HK made, I have seen enough SG stuff, and if they are genuine HK.....they make a point in saying so, if not.......they sound a bit vague

UPDATE:

I just got off the phone with them (again) ... this time, I said that I need to know for 100% certain who these are manufactured by. I explained that the last person I talked to told me "HK", but that I'd only seen them at this price made by "Promag". I said that if they are indeed made by HK, I want all of them, but that if they get here and turn out to be non HK, then I want money back including shipping, handling and return postage (resonable request because, at that point, I would have been missled by them). This time the customer service rep says that she does not have the information to tell who the manufacturer is and that she's not sure where the last person I talked to got their information ...

translated; PROMAG

Sorry for the bad information in the first post.

Just a little info about sportsmans guide. Be very careful what you buy, I bought a 1,000 round case of 5.45x39mm and a 1,000 case of 7.62x39mm from them. They said that it would be here at the end of June, then they said August. Now they are saying September. I passed up places where I would have spent more money but I would have had the ammo because they said June. Now I have no bullets to feed my lil' monstahs.

I really don't understand why some companies insist on operating this way. I've been selling consumer goods all of my life and now sell luxury goods. I can assure you that the cost of acquiring a customer is always higher than the cost of keeping one.

Blah! Deception pisses customers off. Screwing them really pisses em off! I just dont get it...:74:

It is easier to replace an employee than a good customer! This is an example of why many businesses fail, they don't realize that honesty and integrity will get you life long customers who will send you more customers! That said, I have a few questions for the H&K magazine gurus. I realize the Promags are not top quality stuff and in no way compare to H&K, but are they useful as range beaters or do they cause too many malfunctions? Being a cheapskate like I am I often hate to drop my factory mags to the ground when practicing speed reloads and such. I suppose since the magazine ban is over and it is easier to get high capacity magazines this may not be a big issue with most H&K'ers! But, factory mags for H&K's and Sig's are still expensive at $39.00 to $59.00 versus the $20.00 I can get High cap Glock mags for?

straightgrain

They just work better. I know that's not as specific as you like, but I suppose it is the result of smaller tolerances in dimensional variation. I always scratch my head when people buy a fairly expensive item and then expect it to perform with cheapest consumables. I'm not saying that this is universal, but it's not uncommon for me to see somebody with a higher end pistol (say a fine H&K or custom 1911) feeding it crap, dirty surplus and then whining about the dirt and invariable problems. You bought an expensive whatever, treat it that way! It's like somebody wondering why they have issues with their brand new Porsche 911 GT and only fill up the tank with the lowest octane, cheap crap they can find.

I shall now go and scratch my head.

when i first saw this thread, i was certain it was someone mistaking the mags for pro-mags. then looking at the link, i noticed there are two items listed. one is the $24.97 mag HX6A-90151, the other is the $59.97 mag HX6A-90152.

so either orders are getting mixed up, or they are doing a bait and switch.

You are right - the lady (customer service for them) I talked to right before I made this original post made the mistake of telling me that they were HK manufacture.

Again, I apologize guys - I thought Promag as soon as I saw the ad, which is why I called to ask, but I should have pushed the issue on the phone and talked to a supervisor or something ... My Bad

They send a return label and on the back of the invoice you can fill out the boxes for reason, parts returned, etc.

I sent it back for refund and gave the reason as 'not as advertised'. They said HK magazines over the phone to me as well.

Will find out some time next week if they want to argue about it. Shipped the package back today via USPS with tracking.

Tell them that your buddy (me .. - after all aren't we all buddies here on HKPRO!) called and they said that the manufacturer was HK, so basically they screwed up and gave you/me faulty information ... if they need to know who your buddy is, or want to hear from him, PM or email me.

I Also got a set of 3 packs and was hopeing they were factory H&K. Well, as we all know now, they are not. I sent them back with no hassle and if I remember correctly the return label was in the box, but I can't remember if I had to pay to ship them or not. One thing I do remember is they would not drop free with the mag release like the factorys do

Well, I ordered a pack of these not knowing any better. I'm new to the H&K world, and had no idea of ProMag apparently being a bad manufacturer. I have taken these to the range about 3 times in the last week and a half and put about 250 round through the USP with no malfunctions, weapon or magazine related. I definitely dont mind using these as range mags, at 20bucks a pop I don't mind beating these up a little.
Why exactly are Promags such crap, or have such a bad reputation? Have any of you actually used these and have had malfuctions? Or is it a reputation built on word of mouth from owner to owner, just curious.
I emailed Sportsmans and they have no idea who the manufacturer is, so I will just use my new acqusitions as range fodder feeders and keep the good ol' factory mags filled with home defense rounds

I took one apart when I received them and compared it to my 12rd factory mag. The plastic pieces were a lot more flimsy and the way the body was welded just didn’t look like it would hold together as well. Others with more Hk experience can give you some more technical reasons.

Most of the time its just reliability problems. Failures to feed or lock the slide back, anything that can be cause by a worn out or just plain unreliable magazine. Its just hit or miss with Promags. You might get one that feeds 100% all the time for as long as you own your gun. Or you might get one that doesn't feed the 3rd round every time you load it up.

Lest one be too euphoric about this chicanery, CDNN carries Factory HK 10-rounders for $19.95 each, which make phenomenal range mags (unless you -really- need that extra 2 rounds at the range). $20 for promags when you can get factory ones is not a good value.

Sorry to hear of the difficulty y'all went through...but I can guarantee that if you saw someone selling real-deal new HK 12 rounders for $20 a pop...someone at HKPro would have bought all of them...and turned around at sold them at $35 a pop...and at a tidy profit.

FYI, CDNN also has the factory 12 rounders for $49.95...and they throw in a spare 10 rounder with each 12 rounder gratis.

Good luck!

I put them in a small cardboard box, 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 6", paper wrapped the magazines and tucked the RMA form inside the box. Think it was less than $5 using priority shipping and confirmation. I did not get insurance.
