View Full Version : What's the gold color I see on my P7 takedown button and slide rails?
I'm assuming that this is some type of wear but I just want to know if this is normal and if not how to prevent it. What I see is a goldish color streaking that seems to be iscolated on or near the slide rails on the rear of the pistol. There also appears to be the same goldish color on my takedown button. I've used several diff solvents to try and remove but it does not seem to come off. I put a dab of blueing on the takedown button and it appears fine now. Can someone tell my if my baby is ok?

EUREKA!!! You've struck gold! I think your P7 is the rumored "golden gun" that was recently under development by her Majesty's Secret Service and mysteriously dissappeared a few years back.
It was believed that Bond, James Bond, 007 accidently dropped the weapon while on a top secret mission in Tonga (North of New Zealand). It is also believed that the technology for that gun was first developed in the labs at Control and Maxwell Smart (Agent 86) accidently leaked the secret process to a KAOS agent who subsequently was hired by her Majesty's Secret Service after the demise of KAOS.
Again, this is just a rumor that I heard and I have no hard facts to substantiate this information.
Hey, thanks for the info! I knew I came to the right place.

Or....
It could be brass shavings from your ammo....
It's probably the gold thing though... images/icons/wink.gif
WOW! A gold P7!! How much do you guys think this thing is worth?? Should I notify HK and let them know that I have found this long lost weapon? Maybe they will let me trade in my P7 for an MP5! Do you guys think if I walked into a local jewler and pulled out my P7 from underneath my shirt they would be eager to appraise it? Maybe I should refer to it as a "G7 M13".
Seriously, I hope the light-hearted responses mean that this is normal and not anything to worry about.

OK, seriously, can you provide a pic of the "G7". I have seen the goldish color on the rails of a P9S that was extremely well used, it was just a result of honest wear - can't tell you why on the golden hues.

I think you'd get much more money for it than by turning it into HK that way (but you might do more jail time) images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/grin.gif

Stephen, I would tend to agree with you but, the takedown button needing to be re-blued is what throws me off????

I recently bought a glock that has the same thing. It was the same way the first few hundred rounds, and it was brand new. It was actually the original packing grease that was stuck in the corners of the frame. I tried cleaning it off, scraping it off, and everything else. I just had to keep cleaning it and shooting it.
