Remember the old "My Name is Nobody" Movie with the guy that look like a old dirty cowboy and it had Henry Fonda in it? The scene in the bar where the dirty looking cowboy is drinking and shooting the glasses as he throws them over his head and spins, draws, and shoots the glass before it hits the saloon floor?
The local cowpoke had a tooth pick in his mouth and he keeps watching this guy getting drunker and drunker shooting smaller and smaller glasses. The local cowpoke who thought his stuff didn't stink, had been doing it before, and each time this guy hit a glass just inches off the floor the cowpoke would just get a little madder and madder. He would say"Lucky Bas--rd!" and grit his teeth.
Then before the dirty cowboy left the saloon, 3 sheets into the wind. He goes over to the cowpoke and draws his guns out of his holster and slaps the cowpoke silly before he left... I feel like the cowpoke watching this drunk guy shooting the glasses as I look at you new HK45 and think "Lucky Bas--rd!!" About you....lol TJ

Looks like a sharp gun. "How does it shoot," is the question I want to ask.

Nice looking pistol shame mine isn't here yet. Let us know how she shoots. If you can give us a comparison to the P30 for shooting if you have both.

Picked mine up today. Price on it was $859.99 It's NICE, but really dislike the large backstrap that's installed. Can't reach the mag release. Going to install the medium strap soon. Other than that, it's a nice gun.

The grip for me is only OKAY. It will take some getting use too. Haven't yet installed the medium backstrap yet, so my opinion may change. I HOPE that it's better, but from looking at it, doesn't appear to be much of a reduction. The controls are tight. PERSONALLY speaking, I'm glad that it come's with another backstrap, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. Yeah, like many here, I too have been waiting a long time for these to hit the store's. If I don't feel much of a difference, I'll probably hold onto it, and trade it towards the compact model when they come out. The Slide is nice, and overall, top quality. Again, at this point, I can't hit the mag release at all, except from my right hand, which is a little awkward, but doable.

Sweet! HK45 GUN PORN WOOT WOOT! That looks sick man amazing. I held an HK45 today at the local gun store and boy was I impressed. I hate the look of the grips and the feel of the P30's suck but boy does the HK45 fit like a glove!

So is it anything like a 1911 gripwise or not?

NOPE
NOPE
It does feel better than a Glock, right?

I have only fondled one so YMMV, but lets say that it Is closer to a 1911 than the USP but still no cigar. Feel GREAT in the hand to say the least, but its still a bit thicker than a 1911 at least to me. Dont know what insert was loaded, the guy at the shop said medium, so maybe with the small one it may feel closer. The safety is still located too far forward for my little hands to comfortably reach, piles better than the USP series, but still not 1911 like. The good news is that I can comfortably reach the DA trigger.

Lionhart, try using the middle finger on your shooting hand to hit the mag release. That's what I do on my USPC and it works great for me. Just a thought.

I really try to be subjective when going over a new gun. Ascetically speaking it's the coolest HK I've owned yet, and I'm not saying this because it's a new model. It's incredibly slim. In fact, I tried out a new GLOCK 21SF the time they were first introduced. GLOCK's may not be for everybody, but they are great gun's, and the work period. In regard to that 21SF, I felt that GLOCK could have done more reducing the size of the frame. However, it was a huge (For me) improvement over the standard 21 model. Though I also feel that GLOCK could have introduced a larger slide release, trigger guard, and mag catch. This is where the new HK45 rule's. It's pricey yes, but certainly not in comparison with many custom .45's.
I replaced the backstrap with the medium one. Looking at it from the packaging didn't reveal much of a difference, but once I installed it, WOW! In order to put the new one on, for those who don't have their's yet, you must do some basic disassembly, and with a punch and hammer, remove the pin at the bottom, and re-assemble. I can now effortlessly remove the mag's with ease, work the slide release, etc. While driving to pick up the new gun, I also wondered about the safety lever. I was hoping that it wouldn't be flimsy like the FN FNP gun's, and was certainly hoping, that once I pressed down from the 'Cocked & Lock' position, that it wouldn't easly decock. That is not a concern with the new HK45. It's stiff, but not so much to create a hinderance, and I haven't managed to decock it yet from that position.
In a strange way, it reminded me of my old VP70Z in appearance. At least it didn't have the same awful attribute's that pistol has. The trigger isn't bad at all. I would compare it to a GLOCK, but a world of difference compared to an XD. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot it yet, but will do so, when time permit's.So that's my perspective at the moment. It has great look's, feel's incredibly comfortable thanks to the backstrap change, and is user friendly. If it performs as good as it look's/feel's, it will be very hard to beat.

Sweet pick up! Congrats.
I noticed something different on the frame just in front of the trigger guard where the manufacturer "stamp" is. It says HK Sidearms, not a big deal but I do believe that is a new type of "stamping". Usually it says Heckler & Koch Obendorf.....ETC and is located slightly above/behind the trigger guard or even a little further back over the grip stippling.
Just something different but a point of interest for any HK lover!:)

Yep as well as the "AH" P7M8's
I read somewhere that HK firearms will no longer be marked "Heckler & Koch Obendorf". It has been changed to HK Sidearms. Hopefully someone can confirm this.
Great to see the HK45 in the market now - it looks great...congrats and high 5's!
Yeah buddy! :)

Sorry for the lack of knowledge. Here in mASS we have not been able to buy a new production HK hand gun since October 1998. The way the state law is written there is a "ban" on many new pistols. Basically The only HK handguns I can buy here (as of writing this) must have been registered in state before October 98. Manufactures need to submit models for approval/ destruction, before they are allowed to be sold here. By meeting the criteria set by the state.
I hope with the open minded approach HK seems to RECENTLY aquire this might change.

Has there been any talk about HK45s in Variant 2 set-up, or even better, ambi fire-controls?
I've dug around a bit but haven't found any mention.
Looks great, congrats!
Thanks,
B.
