Didn't know if you all would see this at the end of my other thread, so I created this one. You can really tell the difference between the USP and HK45 here. and keep in mind the pic comparison is an USP 45 Compact and the HK45 Fullsize, and the HK45 makes the Compact look like Shrek's wife. I can't wait for the HK45 compact now, and before holding them side by side, I wasn't sure if i really wanted one or not. So, here they are.
The other pictures are to illustrate that the HK45's 10 round mag fits perfectly in the USP compact. So it looks like the USP compact and HK45c will actually be the same mags, which is great as I have tons of them... =)
Enjoy.

You can see how much lower the HK45 is by looking at the cutout where the hammer goes. the HK45 is much closer to the top of the slide than on the USP.

Wow, if the USP compact mags fit the HK45, it would be great! Can you verify that? Will the USPc mags be flash with the bottom of the grip? ALthough they hold 8 rds, it would be great for carrying HK45.

The USP compact mags fit in the HK45 compact, they are too short for the HK45 Fullsize obviously. but the HK45c and USPc mags are interchangable, and the HK45f mags will fit in either of the compact guns. just like the p2000 to p2000sk relationship.
Does anyone know when the Compact will be out? thanks.

Hmm, looks like a Jet funnel would fit on the compact without any major modifications (magazine wise, we all know what you need to make it fit on a .45)

The width of the USP and USPc slides was one of the biggest drawbacks to these weapons. I am glad to see how much slimmer the new models are. Can't wait for the HK45c either.

That is a good pic of the size comparison of the two. How are the sights on the new HK45, are they the super luminova whatever things?

Sadly, they are the Superluminova.
Is that some optical illusion or are the two guns almost the same length. The one I fondled today (so glad I left my credit card at home) looked to be the same size as the USP45F. Your pics make it look like its almost the samesize as the compact. Wonder what holsters fit it. I am going to see what I can get for my G21 and MP9 tomorrow at the gun show so I may be the proud owner of one of these puppies.

Nice comparo pics. That's cool that the mags seem to fit as well.

Is the grip on the HK45 noticeably slimmer or larger than the USP compact .45? I always liked the feel of those grips.

I know looks aren't important and I know we're each entitled to our opinions and personal tastes but... am I the only one who thinks these new HK's are ugly as sin??? They look like S&W handguns now. I'm really saddened by this - kind of like when BMW decided to drastically change the design of their cars. The USP's have such a presence - one of the reasons they're so often used in cinema. Do you see a p30 or HK45 taking it's place? I don't know - just some thoughts. I hope they don't discontinue the USP series.

The USP is, was and always be ugly as hell. So is this. These guns were designed by engineers.

The USP is one mean, sexy looking bitch named Lola!!! This looks like her slightly uncoordinated, lanky gay brother Ted. lol.

LOL. Your nuts! I remember when the USP came out. Everybody sat around laughing at how uncoordinated, lanky and gay looking it was.

I guess things grow on you - maybe I have to shoot one and looks won't matter anymore.

Just go pick one up and see how it conforms to your hand. The engineers took sound advice from Vickers and others in designing this gun. Btw, the engineers purposedly tried to replicate the handle and functionality of a 1911 (read the intro to the manual); which i personally think is a great idea. 1911s will always have a place in my heart; i just shyed away from them because they are finicky as all hell. That was until HK decided to join the club ;)

I disagree completely. The USP has always seemed very bulky, unnaturally thick slide, and top heavy and the grip has absolutely no contours to make it more ergonomically friendly. This is a huge step in the direction imo.
*Not seeing the pictures in your post, I can pictures in other threads tho*

Whoever got the pics working again, THANK YOU.
Seeing it next to the USP Compact is all I need to make me not want to wait for the HK45c. I'm sold.

Mine hits town Monday, and these pictures aren't going to help me sleep - that looks great! I'm not sure what to make of the apparent difference in width - makes me wonder if my LEM kit is going to work. Oh well, I don't mind thin! They'll make a LEM kit for it someday.. Thanks for sharing the pictures!

Can you post a picture of the two backstrap to backstrap and top of the slide to top of the slide...I'd appreciate it.
Wow - the first 2 photos show how massive and over-built the USP slide really is!! Its a monster - no wonder we have USP's in the over 110k round count with very little if any wear 'n tear on them.
Thanks for getting the photos runnning too! :)

That is a very slim gun, I wouldn't mind having a compact either!

The 45 and 45c are obviously far superior for CCW. Better then Glocks too.
But, II'm waitiing for a 45c with an LEM trigger. When it comes out, it will be p-owned by me :)

I will not part with the two USP's I have but, those pics showing how thin it is just hurt my bank account!! I will own one!

I just had an interesting thought. Being a dealer, I've had a couple of FNP-45s in. They are good guns, but you really get an appreciation for the "slimness" of the new HKs after checking out the FNP. Unbelievable. I do wish HK had, somehow, made the standard mags at least 12 rounds. The FNP has 14 round mags.

Isn't there an old saying or something that states that if you need more ammo than your gun provides that you shouldn't have been in that fight to begin with?
I haven't heard of too many situations where it took more than 2 or 3 shots to end it. The only times it did was when there was a shootout and officers did not have time to actually aim properly.

You're right for the most part about capacity. I don't foresee needing more than 11 rounds, but some of our folks in the military may. These guns were developed with the military contract in mind.:720:

They were designed to replace a 9mm which is too weak in some respects, and to give something that was more reliable and up to date than a 1911. 10+1 is better than 8+1 but yeah, more capacity is great. Especially good for the range. Less reload time.

Is there any news forthcoming regarding a .40 variant for these pistol types?
