Hello everyone:

New here and I apologize if this belongs in novice section but I noticed this section has more traffic. I currently CCW a Sig 239. Not bad. I'm getting the itch for a different one and was all set to purchase a G26 when the GS guy showed me the M&P9c. Nice piece! $50 rebate w/3 mags makes it even better plus it's set up for ambi (I'm southpaw). Started reading about FTF w/ JHPs and slide probs so I kinda turned more toward the G26. Next time at the range I got to look at the p2000SK 9. I really like this gun. Similar to the M&P but (according to the GS guy) without the reliability issues. I've gotten used to shooting with right handed guns but recently had somewhat of an epiphany with the ambi type gun. I have shot the G26 and will be unable to test fire the HK or the M&P.

1: anyone have experience with both the M&P and HK or maybe even all three?

2: If I purchase the HK I would choose LEM V2. Is there any value-added benefit to buying the V1 and converting to LEM or is that even possible.

thanks

I have had a glock 26 and a P2KSK. Still have the P2KSK should be Nuff said there since I no longer have the golck 26. If you want one with the LEM you are better off getting it with one on it versus tracking down parts and getting them put in. Or fighting with it. LEM kits can be hard to find also.

I have had the m&P 9c. Very nice gun. I did sell it though to by a USP 9C which fits my hand a little better.

I had the G26, nice enough. I had a P2ksk...looking for a new one.
Nuff said.

If MP is even in the ball park, consider a XD SubCompact. I have one of those also. Much better trigger. But if money isn't an issue get the HK. Best quality.

I don't care what H&K, Sig or Block you buy, just don't get an M&Pc. All I can say is that S&W M&P drove me to H&K. My M&Pc .40 was back to the factory three times and it's best run was 91 rounds without a failure. I think there is a reason they are offering $50 off and three free magazines (in addition to the two shipped with the gun)...

I was in the same boat a few months ago and I chose the HK w/LEM. I like the reset of the Glock, but never got over the grip angle. The M&P I shot malfunctioned consistently, but it was gun store ammo and when I snuck my own in, I had no problems with the m&p. I didn't look at the Walther P99c w/AS trigger system, but have been thinking about a full size P99 with AS if the P30 never comes in LEM.

I'd narrow your choice to HK and Walther, but that's me. Good luck!

I dont know what these guys are smokin but the if I had all three guns in front of me and had to chose 1 to defend myself / go to combat with, it would be the M&Pc9. Don’t believe me? Go to your nearest range and try for yourself. The ergonomics and handle on this weapon is superior to Glocks and Xd’s. The gun is also sexy as hell. I have owned all three and sold the XD ( too blocky), the Glock 26 I keep for a pocket gun but is not as accurate as the M&P. Try them out for yourself as things feel different for people. This is my opinion on these guns. HK is in a class of its own.

No doubt the ergonomics of the M&P are great. I was scared away from the M&P after all the problems I had at the range...fair to rate a gun after a gun shop rental goes bad...probably not, but I've NEVER had that much trouble getting rounds to feed, not even with my departed Beretta 8045. I've never shot a P99 so I can't comment on real-world ergonomics. However, they seem to point quite naturally; but seem almost too skinny in the grip (hmmm, maybe I SHOULD buy one and slim myself down :( ). I have nothing against Glock "quality" except I can't stand having to force my wrist down. Never been a big fan of the XD. I guess I'm HK all the way - I still want the P30 in LEM!!! Hurry up HK (if you read this site).

i have had an XD in 9 and 40, sold them both. i have shot the walther, nice but for that money id get an HK. my wife carries Glock 40 on-duty and off. i have all the uspf and uspc and they are my ccw, home, car, and 4-wheeler go to gun. i shoot all and havent had a ftf or fte or jam/breakage from any of them. that sells me on hk and where my faith lies.

I think it depends on what you want. I went from a P239 to an SK (both in 9mm DA/SA).

At this point I've shot the P239, G26 (rental) and SK.

All were nice, but personally, I just don't like the Glock 'safe' action from a safety perspective. Am more comfortable with DA/SA.

I find the SK (with the flat bottomed 10rd mag) carries as well as the P239 and is about 3oz lighter, loaded (and you get two extra rounds).

I carry the 15rd P30 mags as spares. This approach also works for the G26.

Of the ones I have experience with, I'd say the P239 is the nicest construction, but you pay in weight/round ratio. Both the P239 and the SK are more accurate than I am. The G26 was also very accurate, and I suspect the slight accuracy dip vs the others I noticed was probably because I was not used to the trigger pull.

In the end, it all comes down to what you want. I wanted an ultra reliable, accurate, full featured sub compact in DA/SA with the ability to accept full capacity mags.

The P2000 SK fits that bill for me.

I have owned an M&P Fullsize .40 and 9 and a Compact .40 and 9. I had zero problems with many rounds through each of these pistols. The Fullsize .40 has well over 10k rounds and the other 3 each have over 1k. In my opinion they are very nice reliable pistols with a great price. That being said, I also have an HK P2000 and love it. I've never been a glock fan but don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Keep in mind that all 3 are in their own price range.

i think if price isnt an issue the the hk first, if you dont want to spend that much then the m&p is better. i just want the best weapon to trust my life with, the USP's have had a long history of success. I want to take as little chances as possible with a weapon failing so i myself carry only HK's.

I can't say much about the M&P, I have zero experience with them. I have shot the P2000 9mm many times but not the SK. Although I imagine the SK would be alot like the full size gun.

I can only really comment on the G26, and my comment is it is great! My G26 shoots almost as nice as my G19, I am very pleased with the accuracey even though it's a sub-compact gun. The G26 is very light and easy to carry and I usually carry a spare mag with mine in a Galco walkabout IWB holster. I started out wearing this rig at 12o'clock but have since moved on to the 4o'clock position which I like much better. You can even put 15rnd. G19 mags in the gun for extra capacity, although I don't do this much as I would just carry my G19 instead.

As always with Glocks the sights gotta go and some night sights put in thier place, and it is much more comfortable with some Pearce pinky grip extensions for your 10rnd. mags. After that it is one hell of a gun that just won't quit. If you fired 9mm Glocks before and liked them but you'd like something smaller to carry then the G26 will impress you with just how closely it compares to a full size gun.

I prefer the P2000. I had a Glock but I ended up getting the HK. I now have both a P2000sk and a P2000.
