View Full Version : HK .45 USP clips V.S Taurus .45 clips

My buddy just bought a Taurus .45 and holds 12 rounds in the clip. I have a HK .45 USP Compact which only holds 8 rounds. The Taurus clip is the same exact size but holds more rounds. Does HK make a clip that holds 12 rounds like the Taurus?

The USP full size MAGAZINE holds 12. You should break the mags down. Compare the follower size and report back. I bet it is because HK uses such large followers in their mags.

maybe?

If you were in the Corps like your screen name suggests, then you would know that they are magazines, not clips.:) The full size USP 45 has a 12 round magazine, the compact has 8.

USPc 45 mags are not true double stack mags, dunno why they did this(maybe someone can fill me in) but if you look at the witness holes you can see how the round stack in the various mags. I have heard the compact 45 mag referred to as a 1.5 stack mag as they dont totally stagger but dont sit exactly on top of one another either.

Is there a way to get a 12 round clip...or should I say "mag" so reaper8154 doesn’t get his panties in a bun...that will fit in the compact?

The reason our "panties" are in a bunch is because nobody makes a clip for a USP because the design does not call for one.

If you don't want to be corrected for using the wrong terminology, I'd suggest you avoid forums in general, especially if you're going to have an attitude about it.

Anyhow, you can purchase an HK45 magazine for your USP compact.

It will give you 10 rounds instead of 8.

Those are your options for magazines.

Ok, now another smart guy has commented...Hey Marksman, until you have actually served in the military or been in combat, then you really have no say on whether or not to call it a clip or mag. You being 22 and all...must give you a lot of experience huh...But as you can see now, reaper8154 has only misunderstood where I am coming from by calling a it a clip, and not a mag...and by bun..meaning knot...panties in a bun=knot. But I do appreciate the fact you said there are 10 round mags for purchase. What website do you suggest?

Argumentum ad hominem is usually avoided here, just so you know.

If you'd like the been-there, done-that, going back for more military opinion- it's a magazine. :330:

Hey USMC29,
You can purchase HK45 or HK45c 10 round mags that will fit your USP .45c. Here is a thread to see how the Hk45c mags will look in your gun....

http://hkpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70619

You can purchase them from CDNN (although they are currently out of stock) or board sponser ML Security Products.

Thank you very much Mark71...I appreciate you sticking to the thread topic and not bashing what people call certain things. Your pics are great. I just figured HK would make one that looked stock but held 12 like the Taurus does. Do you think I could take it to a gunsmith and have it staggered somehow? Like I said before, the Taurus mag looked almost identical in size as mine. You would think HK would have matched that.

lol Like being in the military or being in combat has ANYTHING to do with calling something by what it is. Get off your high horse.

On topic: CDNN has mags last I heard. www.cdnninvestments.com

Good luck...

There is no way a gunsmith could change a magazine's capacity unless they shaved down the follower or extended the mag. The best you can do is 10 unless you wanna weld.

couldn't he use a +2 floorplate to get the extra 2 rounds?

Where did the term "clip" come from originally? Anyone know?

I never served in the Military and I don't use the term "clip." However I have met a lot who have served - many of which use the term "clip" instead of magazine. I don't see it as a reason to challenge their military service.

Clips are used when the weapon contains an internal magazine. It is a metal "clip" that holds all the bullets together until they are ready to be stripped into the guns internal "magazine". i.e. the 8 round clips used for the M1 Garand in WW2

Magazines are the actual device that holds and feeds rounds into the chamber of a weapon.

CDNN has the best pricing when they are available. A few other sources are available that have been posted here recently.

What does being in combat have to do with using proper terminology?

Bottom line is you are wrong, and someone tried to correct you. Drop the attitude, say "ok got it", and be done with it. If you're a Marine with so much combat experience and knowledge about small arms, you're going to look quite foolish to anyone who knows any better, including little 22 year old me, who according to you has no experience with anything worthy of gracing your presence.

Its a basic term that people handling firearms on a regular basis should be made aware of. Dont worry, I called them clips at one point too, I was corrected.

I simply said "thank you, got it" and that was the end of it. No need to flex your muscles here and believe that since you have been in combat you're the only person here whos thoughts and words are worth a damn. Egos don't matter on an internet forum. Clear communication and proper terminology however do, since our communication is limited to what can be typed.

Thanks for your service, we appreciate it. Just please check the attitude. Its not meant as an insult, its meant to correct a very common mistake that many of us have made.

Bachman Pawn, Midway USA also have these from time to time.

There is one other name that I can't think of who has them for around 47-48 bucks.

When I was in Boot Camp my DI would have choked the life out of me if I would have called a magazine a clip. Unless your combat experience is storming the beach at Normandy I don't think the military has a weapon system that uses a clip( if they do please correct me!)

Granted I have no combat experience because I got out in December of 2000 thank God. I truly thank you for your service and I was trying to correct you so you don't look like an ignorant ass. Just like if you have a bunch of snot running down your face and finnaly someone lets you know.

Thank you for all your participation. My school project on forums is now complete. While all of you actually thought you were trying to be tough and prove a point, I was laughing at how much time you all actually wasted on here for little old me. So, maybe this final message by me will help you in not making the same mistake again, that’s unless you don’t care on how you spend your time. My point...instead of bashing on someone just asking for help, give them the help they want or don’t give it at all while being courteous....because anyone can sit behind a computer and act tough...Have fun people…

I believe you just broke 3 of the 4 things that you should never do in an internet argument according to the internet.

Looking at your first 3-4 posts on this forum I would say that you went with the "I was just kidding" part of the article.

Would have been great had you not posed as a United States Marine.

All you proved is that if you make a mistake, people will correct you... not "act tough".

The only acting tough was done by you posing as a serviceman and responding with attitude and ego. Nobody here ever "acted tough" to you, and if you called a clip a magazine to my face, I'd politely correct you to your face as most people did politely here.

Congrats on being a liar, a fraud, and breaking every rule of scientific research- print out a copy of this all to your professor so he can look at you, laugh, and fail you. I guess I learned a few things while I got my degree, one aspect of which was dedicated to research.

Print out another copy and hand it to a United States Marine. They won't fail you, but they will help you time travel via unconsciousness.

Scientific method and ethics are two key components of research. You failed miserably in both. I could go on in other aspects that you tanked in, but I have a feeling I'd be talking way over your head.

Your posts eminate complete and utter bull****, including your last one.

Well actually not a troll account, 'That was great!' was referring to the previous post by Reoze. I tend to PM as opposed to posting. This thread really hit home with me because the instructor of my Carry Permit class was/is a Marine and was adamant about not using 'clip' when what you are referring to is a 'magazine'. I was one of the few that made the mistake during class. I tend to pay attention to it a lot more now.

Who was acting tough? Congrats coward. Pretending to be a Marine Corps combat vet in your post should get you real big points with your professor. You will fail this assignment and still be a loser. Just do me a favor. When you strap on your Birkenstocks in the morning and drive your Toyota Prius to class, try not to spill your soy mocha frappachino and die in a horrific car crash. That would break my heart. So long softhead.
