Hey Guys, I am getting ready to buy my second HK pistol. I had a USPf 45 in DAO but could,nt hit anything, I am a single action or da shooter. I ended up selling it for financial reasons. I am in the market for a new HK 45 and would like opions and testimonals on the two. USPf or Tactical???

I love my USP Tactical 45! Its a tac driver with the match trigger and longer barrel. The USP series is proven. I have no experience with the HK45 but will buy one no matter what. It will be a while before the HK45 Tactical comes out.
Have a 45 tactical coming. I will let you know

The Tactical is one of the best shooting weapons I have ever owned. If you get one I know that you won't be sorry. It's well worth the premium over the USP45F.

I've shot and own both. They are pretty much the same gun, one has a longer barrel, nicer trigger and less useable sights. The tac looks cooler in my opinion. The trigger is nicer in the crispness issue and has a little bit softer pull, but that is about it. I didn't like the adjustable sights on my tac so put some fixed trijicon night sights on, the same size as the normal usp, and I really liked them. It makes the gun look much better too, with the smaller sights and portruding barrel.
There is no noticable accuracy difference between the two; both are super accurate.
My advice would be this: if you are planning on switching out the adjustable sights for night sights of any kind, get the regular usp becuase you will save money that way, unless you are one of those shooters who hits low with the stock usp sights; in that case you will want the adjustable sights. If you don't plan on getting a silencer, get the regular usp becuase silencers cost alot of money, besides you can always get an aftermarket threaded barrel for the regular usp.
I guess when it all comes down to it, get the regular usp because it is cheaper and you get just about the same gun as the tac. I bought a used usp 45 for $625 and it has done just fine. It looked like it had had about 5000 rounds through it before I bought it.
Actually dude, get whatever you want, if want the looks, get the tac, if you want the economy, get the usp. Whatever you want; it is a mostly free country.

I just got a usp tactical .45 about 5 months ago, always wanted 1 for years, mainly for looks but anyway... I am not really good at shooting pistols, rifles are my main field. When I got my tactical, it shot poorly for me because of the way I was handling it and firing it. My brother shot it right after I did and got some really good groups. Because of my competitive nature, I decided to figure out how to shoot my tactical more accurately. After a few more days at the range, my groups looked better every day. Its been cold now, so I haven't really been out lately, but snap caps help A LOT! It allows you to dry fire without harming the firing mechanism. Point of my rant, which ever 1 you get, dont get discouraged if you can't get good groups from it. Practice, practice, practice. If you do get good groups, more power to you. Oh, and another thing, fitted holsters are kinda hard to come by for a tactical, mainly because of the taller sights, and in a few cases, the longer barrel. Mags are the same for the usp fullsize .45 and usp tactical. Hope you find something informative in all this.
Both are outstanding pistols! I got a od green Tactical because I was looking for a standard USP in that color, the Tactical came along and I couldnt pass it up for the price + the od green Tactical is a rare one. I dont use a supressor, but got it anyway...the trigger is sweet, this one has MMC fixed sights, no biggie, I can get the adjustable if I want to put it back to factory stock. A flash hider is also an option with the threaded barrel
My standard USP's are super accurate out to about 25-30 yds, not all the extras the Tactical has, but every bit as accurate when I do my part.
You cant go wrong with either one - USP's rock no matter what configuration they come in.

I have dry fired all of my pistols thousands of times. When ever I am at home, I have a pistol in my hand and I am dry firing it. I don't use snap caps. Dry firing will not hurt your gun, especially if it is an hk. I have dry fired numerous brands and they are all fine, and all of thier round counts are in the thousands. Dry firing damage is the greatest wifes' tale in gundom.
OK, I am done now, keep dry firing, it is a good thing to do. Congrats on your determination to get good with the usp tac, that is commendable in all serioiusness. Most shooters just give up when they don't have a good experience. Keep it up.

both are a great choice, but money not being an object, the tac .45 is the better pistol and better value. i sold a uspf .45 to get a tac .45

Get the Tactical. You know you want it and it gives you the flexibility of adjustable sights to dial the gun in for range work. It also allows a flash suppresor and if you want to spend more $$$ you can always get a can. I've got a Tac and love it.

After a gun club meeting (2004) I was showing off my HK Tactical with my new JPoint sight. I had a few members standing around me, when I loaded a magazine racked the slide and took five shots consecutively. I then realized I just put all five shoots almost through the same hole. I put down the pistol and brought the target up and all five shots almost thought the same hole. It's a 50' range and if the target is placed all the way to the back stop it's a extra 7'. I kept the target to prove how accurate the pistol can be.
The HK Tac is a KK without the key safty in the grip.

Thanks for all of the input guys!! I think I am going to get the tac. I just need to find out if threaded barrels are legal in michigan. I like the looks and plan on putting a flash suppressor on it. The plus side I like to is the 12rds of
.45. I have 1911s and wish I could cram 12rds into them. I loved the feel of the HK I had and can't wait to get another one. Thanks again!!

the tac is a better weapon, it just is a question of what you can find a good deal on and what you can afford.
