Hi yall, my local shop has a NIB usp elite .45, listed as rare and price of $1150. What makes this usp worth that hefty price tag. Obviously the size makes it a non-carry weapon, and since I have a USPfs .40 I know and love the charactaristics of the weapon. So any info and/or advice on this particular piece and the advantages/ disadvantages would be much appricated.

I have an elite in 45 and it is the most accurate pistol I own and very soft recoiling. It has the match trigger which I think is an improvement over the stock usp trigger, mostly in the crispness issue. The slide contour is different; it is slimmer and tapers to the top like the p2000 and I like the looks of it. The sight radius is quite long which helps the shooter be more accurate.
Plus, there is something way cool about a 45 and a 6.2 inch barrel. I have worked up some 185 grn reloads that come screaming out of that long barrel.
I bought the elite because I originally wanted a mk23. But then I asked my self what about the mk23 did I really want? What I wanted was a big 45 that had a long barrel with hi mag capacity. The usp elite 45 filled the same role for less money and is every bit as accurate and reliable as the mk23, but in a sleeker profile. Plus it uses the same mags as my usp 45, which I already had. Plus it would be a good hiking companion to take care of various varmints like wolf, cougar, mountain lion, rock chucks, squirells, rabbits, etc...
I have been very pleased with the elite ever since I bought it. It puts a big smile on my face when I shoot it and regularly hit stuff I should not be hitting at that range, like empty shotgun shells at 15 yards.
If you end up getting one and have reloading capabilities try a .45 185 grn slug behind 6.6 grns of bullseye, it is one the most bad ass sounding things ever, sort of like a wide open, well tuned v8.

Rare? Not really. Worth it? Yes. I see them at shows regularly for sub-$1k.
I like mine, too.:D But, personally, I like my Expert45 the best. It's a little more balanced than the Elite.

Thanks for the info guys, well it's either that or buy a NIB blac USC for a few more bucks. Not sure which way to go. May wanna get the USC just incase the Dems get their way and re institute the ASW Ban. I'm pretty sure that would fall under the criteria.

CDNN has them for $1004
CDNN has them for $1004+1! CDNN is great to deal with, better price point too! $146 will buy lots of ammo/mags

I agree with 12131.
I like my .45 Expert .45 better than the wifes 9mm Elite.
For me it does feel more balanced.

Just comparing like calibers ~ my Elite 9mm is more accurate than my Expert 9mm. I like the look of the Expert better, though. I attribute to the longer sight radius. The Expert is more convential looking.
