Hi I am new to the forum. I am purchasing a P30 this week and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a certain HKS or other brand of speedloader that works well with P30 mags.
Also wondering if anybody has specific recommendations for ammo brands that work well in the P30 and any specific brands that have issues with it.
Thx.

Welcome to the forum! The BEST magloader for any type of magazine including the P30 is the Uplula.

Its the best $25 you will spend as it makes loading mags a breeze. Check out this recent thread for more info....

As far as ammo is concerned the P30 will eat anything. HK recommends using a hundred or so rounds of 124 or 147 grain ammo to break the gun in. Some members have had issues with ligh loads such as Remington UMC during break in. The new tight springs have a hard time cycling lighter loads which may cause some problems. Of course this is a hit or miss thing. My P30 eats anything I feed it (including Remington UMC) and has been flawless with close to 1000 rounds.

You will really enjoy the P30. I have never had any problems with any type of ammo I have used. This includes Speer Lawman, Winchester White Box, HSM reloads, Blazer and Magtech. As far as SD ammo I have used Speer Gold Dots and Winchester Ranger SXT +P+.

Just don't try Silver Bear ammo. Took mine out for the first time tonight, using 115gr Silver Bear FMJ. Out of 60 rounds fired, 55 of them would do the following. The spent ejecting case would get caught by the returning slide, leaving the next round stuck half way between the mag and the chamber. Then the last round fired, but the case was stuck in the chamber. Really ruined my night.
I will try out other ammo brands next and see what happens.
+1 for the UpLULA. Great invention.

Yep, the UpLULA may be great but this is still the best magazine loader around...

I would buy an UpLULA if it came with a round counter.

+2 on Uplula, Federal American Eagle 124 gr and the 147gr shoots exellently and accurately. That is what I used to brake in my P30. I also used WWB, Remington and S&B. It function flawlessly. Make sure u use 124 gr and 147gr to brake it in.

thanks for all the advice. I am going to order a uplula loader from and some ammo from midway. Am I better off with the 147 or 124 gr?
I have already bought an HK cleaning kit for 9mm, but don't really know any specifics about how it should be cleaned or how often. Can anyone give me any specific advice for the P30 or point me to the right thread. Thx.

I just bought a 100 round box of UMC. I have 1050 thru my P30. Just cleaned it. I finally ran a bore brush thru her. I'll put another 100 rounds of WWB on Tuesday.

Welcome to the Forums. Midway is high on their ammo prices. Ammo Man has 124 Federal Eagle for $199 a 1000 round case. You are going to love shooting your P30. Make sure you clean her before going to the range. After putting 1050 rounds thru. I finally used a bore brush thru the barrel.

How much do you pay for the SXT +P+? The range/gunshop I go to. Sells Ranger +P 115 for $15 a box.

Somebody didn't read their owners manual. See page 18...
NOTE: Use of +P and +P+ ammunition accelerates wear and reduces the service life on the component parts of any pistol, including the P Series pistols, and is not recommended. For further information on ammunition selection, contact HKI Customer Service at 205-655-8299.

can anyone give me some basic directions for cleaning the P30. At this point the only gun that I own is a S&W K-22 Revolver and i don't know much about cleaning semi-autos. I bought an HK 9mm cleaning kit from the local gun shop a few days ago and am expecting my P30 to arrive this week so I want to be able to clean it before taking it to the range. thx.
