Mainly, I'm wondering how many rounds you guys have fired through your HK's without cleaning the bore. I just picked up a USP full size in 9mm. I fired 125 rounds, and then 6 days later fired 75 rounds. I did not clean it untill I completed this 200 round test over a 6 day period.

Is this ok to do? My ammo was Sellier and Bellot FMJ, Hornady XTP, and Winchester Ranger T 147 grn. The pistol passed my "wake up" test with flying colors.

Normally I claen after every range session, but during this 6 day period I could not get to it. The bore shines after a Hoppes 9 cleaning, however, if I shine a light in it I can see some gray/white color in the grooves. I didn't mess anything up by going 200 rounds between bore cleaning did I? Also, do the HK barrel corrode easily? I'm thinking what I'm seeing is lead buildup...I've noticed it take place over the years with my old S&W Model 10. I didn't think jacketed ammo would do this however.

Thanks for the help.

Don't worry I don't think anything is wrong. You may be seeing powder residue in the grooves or some other stuff that got caught in there. Try using a 9mm Jag soaked in Hoppes. The Jag pushes the patch material into the grooves and gets alot of stuff out that a normal brush and patch cleaning can miss. I had a local dealer run a jag down the barrel of an unfired rifle that I had cleaned and was shocked at how dirty the patch came out. Since then I use a Jag with every cleaning. Try it and let me know how it turns out.
