I have been shooting Fiocchi 45 acp through my HK45 and noticed that its been a really smokey as of late. What are you shooting through your HK45? Any recommendations on clean 45 ammo?

I don't have an HK45 yet. But I use WWB for my P30. No smoke I will be using WWB for the HK45 when I buy one.

IMHO, Fiocchi ammo is pretty dirty. I bought a large amount a while back in .45 and 9mm. At the range, I'm always getting little puffs of smoke from the barrel after firing a round. I also notice that Fiocchi normal loads tend to run a little hotter compared to WWB or Federal AE.

I just ran a 50rd box of Blazer Brass 45 acp 230 gr. FMJ through my HK45 and it was some nasty gritty stuff , but it ate it like candy, but needed a little cleanup afterwards....but it was dirty, my hands were nasty after loading my mags..

Federal American Eagle is one of the most accurate, clean shooting ammo at a good price.

+1 on that. For target ammo, it is hard to beat. I have never had a feeding problem with it, but then again, i haven't had any feeding problems at all in my Hk 45 so take that with a grain of salt. Remington, UMC isn't bad either but it has been a little more expensive for me to find lately so I have been going with the Am Eagle. I shot some magtech ball ammo the other day and that was dirty as all get out.

I shot WWB, S&B, and some Independence at the last range visit. In my experience WWB is pretty dirty, but I've never gotten a squib or soft round out of it. S&B seemed to be about as dirty as the WWB but shot fine. The Independence was fine as well.

I noticed that the WWB was puffing out some good smoke every so often. I think the powder just tends towards particulate.

WWB seems to be pretty average as far as dirt goes. CCI Blazer and Brass are bit dirtier but still function fine. Academy sells Monarch brand 45 that youncsn find pretty cheap every once in a while. Good ammo. Soft and relatively clean. Unless its pitting out a plume of junk I dont tend to worry about it, but I do tend to do most of my shooting outdoors. So long as it is reliable and relativley consistent in the accuracy arena I am Ok with it.

I just got my HK45 and haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I was stocking up on ammo before I even got it. I have WWB, Blazer Brass and a 250 round pack of UMC. I'll put some of each through it and let ya know. Blazer used to be the cheapest at Wally World, but the price went up to almost $15 a box. The UMC is $72 for 250, so I'll probably stick with that.

$72 for 250? Wish I could find it for that here. I think the last time I checked towards the end of last year it was $95.99 here at Gander Mountain in Middletown, NY.

Shot some Blazer brass today out of my Elite and it was jam city. Had alot of feeding issues with it getting stuck on the ramp.

WWB is working good for me at the moment. I've shot Federal rifle rounds and they are good stuff. Thanks for the suggestion.

It was $126 for 400 rounds at Wally World (with tax).
