Aaaarrrggghh :(....bought a used HK USP40 from a friend at my gun club. I bought it based on the HK reputation and when I tested it out I shot it well. I had an ambi safety put on it (I'm a lefty) and just got it back. Went to the range last night for about 2 hours and shot a few hundred rounds through it. Not bad out to 50 feet...groupings were covered by my hand (luckily I have large hands!).

Here is the frustration...I was testing some new reloads and also ran them through my Glock 23. I was shooting the G23 just as well as the HK!!! I think to myself...OK, at least you're consistent with various weapons...the problem is....the G23 felt better in my hand!! I also noticed that the Glock came up on target better (front sight & rear sights aligned quickly), while with the HK the front sight seemed to dip below the rear sights and it took me a split second longer to align the sights properly.

Not sure if this is from shooting the smaller Glock and then moving to the HK with a longer/heavier slide or just the natural pointing of the HK. Either way, the Glock is feeling more comfortable....but I really like my HK!! Aaaahhh!

You can like both. Glock and HK make my favorite pistols, and I have no problems owning both.

That just means you have two very dependable weapons. One (G23) you can keep in your car, if the law allows it. And the other (HK) you can keep in your nightstand or for CCW. Have fun and stay safe.

+1...plus consider the downside...you could be bad with both as well :-). I loved my G19 and 23, 23 was a tad light for the 40 cal recoil but the 19 shot amazingly well. I found that the 23 fit my hand great just as you did. WHen I picked up my P2000sk that was the deciding factor to my purchase was that it fit me as well as the Glock did.

I sometimes feel like I'm cheating on them by fondling both - I make them sleep together in the safe and they get over it.

You could always shoot both at the same time - gansta style!

This posting seems a little SPAM-LIKE to me, but if it's not, I guess you just adapt well to different platforms, zipper046...

If that's the case and you are a chameleon shooter, grab a CZ-52 and see if you can still make your claim... :2:

I just don't get it. I hope these folks aren't really serious about this. What's the frustration? So, you shoot them both well. And you're supposed to apologize for it? They are both great firearms, the HK a little more expensive than the Glock. Are we supposed to shoot the HK better, for whatever reason? I have both, and I love them both.

ETA: Same thing with guys coming on a Colt-is-favorite site apologizing for buying a Sabre Defence AR.

Loyalty to a firearm should be based upon reliabilty and accuracy. I believe that thre is no "one right firearm." GFind a gun that your shot well and that you can turst to fire avery time and you have found your perfect gun. I'm a glock owner, its reliable, accutate, it goes bang when I pull the trigger, It points well and it is very carryable. And, I will carry it next to my HK94 for the same reason.

No problem liking multiple brands. My 3 favorite guns are my Colt 1911, Glock 19, and HK45c (new baby). Would be hard for me to pick any one over the others.

I probably shoot my G19 the fastest I can shoot accurately and has cheap mags, spare parts, holster options, etc, the Colt is extremely accurate and has the nicest trigger, and the 45c i've only put 150 round through but it is looking like it will be extremely fast shooting and accurate.

No, no spam here. I like your idea though...just that the wallet (and wife) might have another opinion! :-) I was just hoping to "standardize" on one platform but looks like the HK bug has bit and bit hard! Thanks for the response though.

thanks guys...reason I brought the topic up anyway was some frustration. I was hoping to have only 1 platform so that I didn't have to change shooting styles (ie: grip, reload procedures, etc.) and so that any tools I buy (just bought the Glock sight tool) would be kept to a minimum....

Guess all that is out the window! HK AND Glock it is!! Time for some HK tools for new sights!! I'm open to suggestions if anyone is offering.

Thanks,

If I had the extra cash I would have another glock to go with the H&K, you have an enviable problem I wish I had!

The main idea behind a forum is express ideas and get answers to issues on your mind. If we limit what we use em for they won't be worth a patootie. I think a few of the responders may have read more into your original post than you had anticipated.

Thanks Mattkats1...I agree with you 1000%. As I was always told..."no such thing as a stupid question...be prepared for a possibly stupid answer, but no such thing as a stupid question!"

It's just a difference in style. I've shot both and own a Glock 23.

The biggest difference is the slide widths. On the Hk, it's a bit fatter.

I have lucked out in the sense that when I join LE in Arizona, I will be issued a G23 for duty carry and if it needs fixin' the armorer can do it. I'll buy a small standard kit for the Glock, but I will have the Yankee Workshop of HK tools:)

Enjoy both your weapons and be safe.

Theres nothing wrong with that.

You've been shooting Glock longer, and they're plenty accurate for a combat handgun.

If you shoot them better, stick with them. It happens.

Although HK's are more mechanically accurate, it won't make any difference if you've got more trigger time on another platform. If you spent as much time with the USP, you very well might shoot it more accurately, but then again you might not.

The grip angle is different, so it will take some time to adapt.

Shoot what fits your hand best. Both HK and Glock will go bang, and put a round where you want them to, its up to you to decide where to go from there.

You will shoot the USP better with time, I gurantee it. I do notice more felt recoil coming from the G23 then my USPc. However, I do really like the sight picture on the Glock. You can like HK and Glock, I know I do. And I'd rather beat up my Glocks anyway then my HKs when carrying. ;)

You loose your front sight (dipping) on the HK because the glock has a far more rakish grip angle than the HK. You must be more used to the glock grip angle.
