Hi all...been researching the site for suggestions on my HK USPf40. I really like the Combat Competition, but the only differences I see are the trigger, jet funnel, sights & mag's. I picked up my HK USPf40 used, in great shape, for a great deal and just can't justify purchasing a Combat Competition model (at least yet).

So, I figure on buying the parts and making it into a Combat Competition. I've seen threads on the Match Trigger assembly and the LEM trigger assembly. Can I get some opinions on the pro's/con's of each? I did just have an ambi-safety installed, but if it has to be sacrificed for a better trigger, then so be it.

Thanks everyone,
Z-

From what I understand, the Combat Competition trigger actually uses parts from both the Match and the LEM triggers (according to the HK guy I talked to on the phone), but HK can do the installation work for you, so I assume that they can keep the ambi safety and stuff.

That's mainly conjecture on my part, but they didn't ask what version USP I have either.

That is right, the Combat Competition is equipped with the LEM trigger and match trigger parts. Compared to a normal LEM you can expect a lighter and smoother trigger pull with adjustable overtravel stop. A friend of mine has one and it shoots great!

I too am interested in this very setup. I am trying to figure out if it would be cheaper to buy a used USP base gun and build it with the parts or just buy the complete Combat Competition new. I have yet to see any on the used market.

Are the sights that come on the Combat Competition available to purchase seperately?

Well when I talked to the guy on the phone, he told me to specify that I wanted the Combat Competition trigger "plus any other work you want on it, like night sights or whatever"

The CC trigger is going to cost me $211 for HK to do the work. $84 for the match trigger parts, $52 for the LEM trigger parts, $45 labor, and $30 shipping.

Not wanting to screw up anything if I try to install it myself, I decided to just bite the bullet. And I'm considering asking for a switch from the standard white dot. At least night-sights, but the Combat Competition's fiber optic novaks might be interesting

The sights are Novak Hi-Viz fiber optics. I think I read in another thread that they were a limited run and only for HK. I did a search online, but could not find them. There are other fiber optic set ups for HK's but I couldn't find Novaks...even on their site. May only be able to get them at HK. I plan on calling them up this week.

i would like to know what all parts are used from each (lem and match)?

As far as I know, Novak made the sights for the Combat Comp. under contract from HK. Whether that contract is still going, has ended, or was canceled I am unaware. I do remember reading in another thread about the Novak night sights on the USP CT and that Novak had stopped making sights for HK. Anyway...

The ones on the right (SHKFFOPB) look like the same sights that are on the Combat Comp. The Combat Comp. setup would be a plain black rear sight with a Hi-Viz front sight. However, it seems like they want you to call them to inquire because it says this...

"ATTENTION: These NEW H&K Sight Sets are NOT in our ONLINE STORE."

I just got off the phone with Novak. They do have the fiber optic front sight and plain black rear in stock for the full size HK USP. These are the same ones that are on the bottom right of the above link. The salesman said that they were made tall to clear a silencer....so I am not sure if these are the exact ones used on the Combat Competition and the Custom Combat. Do these guns from the factory have that tall of sights?

I'm certain the ones for the compact are made taller for the use of a silencer, these are what are used on the USP CT for just that purpose. Not sure if the Combat Comp. style will clear a silencer, but perhaps they built them high enough as well.

I can tell you the USP CT front sight does look way higher than my Combat Comp. front sight.
