Being a newbie, I'm guessing this has been asked many times. However, can someone tell me the major differences between the P2000 and the Compacts? And, what is your preference? I want to get one of them, just don't know which one. tx!

I would say P2000SK for CC as you can always add a x-grip on a P2000 mag and have the best of both worlds

If in 9mm buy the P30. By feel the SK not bad. But I like the P2000 better.

I have the P2000sk and P2000. They are both excellent pistols and conceal very well. The sk conceals slightly better, is extremely accurate, still manages to fit my rather large hand very well, and is very pleasant to shoot. In fact, my wife "appropriated" the SK because she liked it so much. Shortly after her confiscation of the SK, I purchased a P2000 as my carry piece.

If this will be strictly a CCW, the SK would be preferable. If you want the best of both worlds, get the P2000.

Regards.

One major consideration (if it matters to you) is that the P2000 cannot be carried cocked & locked. The USPc can. Also the USPc has many more control options than the P2000. Then also, the USPc is a bit more rugged in my opinion.

The P2000 is more ambidextrous, and has changeable grip inserts which make it more friendly to females and anyone with small hands than the USPc.

it's a personal opinion on which is better. pick the one that makes you feel happy. I have the compact if that matters.

I have a USP Compact LEM. Love it and I will be buying a P2000 at some point also.

I have a P2000 with the LEM trigger. I was originally looking at the P2000sk but when I held it the grip ended above my pinky. I don't have large hands by any means and it just seemed awkward to hold. The P2000 itself isn't too much larger than the sub compact and for the price/ammo capacity, and size the Compact will be just fine I think. I'm about 5'10" ~140-150 lbs and I can conceal it fine.

I have both P2000's and USP compacts. They are both excellent weapons. I myself prefer the P2000. Why? Because it's newer, sleeker and feels just as good or better than the USP Compact. That and it has a newer industry standard rail, to me thats important.

Wow! Thanks, folks! Great input, especially on the 2000 and 2000sk. Sigh. Now I have another decision...:D

I have a USPc and a P2000 Sk and love both pistols. That being said I've carried them both and very much prefer the SK. I carry my SK everyday, it's by far my favorite gun to have at a moments notice. I feel my SK will do anything my compact will do but in a much more comfortable and concealable package.
