I noticed something interesting when holding my P30 and HK45c side by side today. The dust covers are practically the same length. Had HK added one more notch towards the front like the P30 it could accommodate the X200 and other similarly sized lights.

I have no idea why they didn't do this. I'll try to take a pic later to show the comparison.

Upon further examination there's a little more to it than the extra notch.

Had the HK45C not had the angled trigger guard an extra notch would have permitted the use of most standard tactical lights. The concaved trigger guard of the P30 allows the light to be seated further back than the HK45C thus utilizing the most forward of the notches for light attachment.

I personally prefer the angled trigger guard of the HK45C but now see possibly why HK uses the different shaped trigger guards.

Very cool of you to post those pics. Thanks. That's kinda a bummer for a lot of people who wanted to mount X300/X200 lights. I was really looking forward to mounting a X300 to the HK45 CT when it comes out. I just assumed it would work. I wonder what the next best option will be??

Thanks again

Johnny

Has anyone tried a TLR-1 with there HK45c? My thoughts were that if you move the notch piece to the rear position then it will fit. I have yet to get an HK45c so I have been unable to try myself.

P7M8: If I ever wanted to have two HK45c with concurrent serial numbers I now know one of the two owners to contact. The folks at CDNN must have shipped ours back to back.

The TLR-1 will not work on the HK45c...the lugs on both the universal and pic rail keys are too far forward. I'm a little bummed about that...I just bought a HK45c last night and was assuming that my X300 and TLR-1 would both work; should have checked first. If I would have done my homework I might have gone home with the full size instead.

Now I know too. I've also identified the HK45 owner on this board with the same.

I just picked mine 45c up and tried the TRL...nope won't fit. Guess I'll just have to keep it on the P30 and try to find a compact light for the 45c.

Makes me wonder why I bought it. :)

I would think some of the light manufacturers will come up with a mounting solution sometime down the road.

There's adapters for pistols that need them, and in time, I dont see why the HK45C will be any different.

That being said, HK should have just shortened up the trigger guard a bit to add an addition notch. I dont think it would have made that big of a difference when wearing gloves.
