hi i was thinking of finally taking the plunge tomorrow and getting a USP 45. really eying the tactical right now, but may settle for the fullsize.

are the 12 round mags the same? should i avoid the flatbottom mags if i get the tactical?

any pros/cons to getting the tactical very much appreciated.

thanks!

All USP full size .45 mags are the same. Bottoms may differ but that is preference only.

thanks alot.

in your opinion, is the tactical model worth the $220 more it will cost over the fullsize model?

The difference is the match trigger with over travel stop, threaded O-Ring barrel and adjustable target sights. Those by themselves are well worth the price difference. If those items don't matter to you then it's not worth it.

You could always get the HK45 which has the match trigger and O-ring barrel and other updated features over the USP.

Another diference is the raised sights. The tactical was designed to be used with a can. If you plan to run a can, then it's the perfect platform and a good value. If you have no interest in a can, I'd save my money and stick with a standard USP.

I agree, to add those to your USP should you decide you want them later on is well over the price of the Tactical.
Match trigger: $125
Match Sights: $135
O-ring Tactical barrel or just an o-ring barrel, HK or after market: ~$240
Cleaning kit: $26
Spare o-rings:$20
Word Tactical on the slide: Priceless ;)

So, for just about $200 more for the Tactical you get $546 worth of extras. It use to be more when they shipped with the soft case but sad to say, those days are gone.

Get the tactical! I love mine! Look around and see if you can find one with the soft case. I don't thin they come with the soft case any more, just the hard shell.

Even if you don't think you might ever want a can, I'd get the tactical anyway if you want something besides a CCW. If it is to be a CCW then I think the threaded barrel opens up more problems than it is worth, but for a home pistol, range gun, or every day use duty gun, then the Tactical is well worth the extra bucks IMO.

Having owned a Tactical, my recommendation is to get the HK45 unless you definitely plan on using a suppressor. You must keep in mind the cost of the suppressor and the required license.
Otherwise the HK45 is a better pistol, but this is just my opinion. If you really want a Tactical and aren't in a big hurry, the HK45 Tactical will hopefully be available in the near future.

if you are not interested in the can, step up to the expert. i have both and prefer the feel of the expert -> it is just a little more weight in the slide for balance.

or, buy one of everything :)
