Hey guys - I'd really like to see the difference between "grades" in the refurbished PSP's if it's not too much trouble. My FFL claims that he has a contact at HK that's putting Class A guns in Class B boxes or something to that end and discounting the price. Now the "Class B" guns he has are REALLY nice - near perfect. So I just wanted to see pics of what a common class A and class B look like UP CLOSE - I wanna see the marks, wear, etc if possible guys so I can make an educated decision. Thanks in advance.

HK didn't grade by cosmetic appearance. HK has stated the grades are based on how much use the particular pistol has seen. A barely used Grade A may have a good bit of holster wear, for example.

ScauceNJ:

I would respectfully suggest your FFL with the "contact" at HK is full of it.

Since HK grades these pistols according to internal wear/use, it's certainly possible you would find a grade "b" with less external wear than you might find in another pistol graded "a".. The pistols are not graded on holster wear.

I should think that if your FFL has a contact at HK who has no qualms about cheating on how he grades/boxes these P7 PSP's he might not be the absolute best person to place your confidence in. If that person will screw the company that is writing his paycheck each week why wouldn't he be prone to have the same lapse of character when telling about putting "a" grade pistols in "b" grade boxes?

I would suggest you just pay whatever premium charged to pay for an "a" grade PSP and forget about it. If you can pay $600 (or whatever) for a "b" grade you can certainly scrape up an additional $75.00 (or whatever) to pay for an "a" grade it that's the quality of PSP you really want.

I wanted the absolute best P7 PSP I could get, and I was much more concerned about the internal condition and how much actual firing a pistol had than if it had any holster wear or not. Lots of folks wind up refinishing a surplus P7 PSP anyway, so a little holster wear isn't a factor for those folks anyway.

My particular CDNN P7 PSP came in absolutely new condition internally, and the external was in excellent condition. I consider the extra $75.00 I paid to get an "a" grade pistol as money well spent.

I just think your FFL is doing a little "special marketing" speech to sell guns.

Just personal opinion/YMMV

Best Wishes,

Sounds like crap to me also. Your FFL probably has a bunch of grade B's to sell. H&K grades them on the amount of use they have seen. Marshall at CDNN said that they have people that grade them again, probably on what the exterior looks like. I still think the CDNN grade A P7's are a "step above" what other's are selling as grade A's. Everbody who buys a grade A from CDNN seems to get a "like new"
P7.
The grade B's are so nice I wouldn't doubt that there are people selling them as grade A's further confusing matters.
Buy from CDNN, ask for Marshall and spend the extra $75.00 you won't be disapointed. Read the other threads by people who bought from CDNN.

I really like it when I come to a forum to ask a question and the question/answer is just sitting right there for me :D

Assuming there is nothing good at the funshow this weekend, I believe I will be placing an order with CDNN soon for an A-grade.

what a bunch of BS........want to bet his HK's do not even come direct from HK...most dont, they go thru a distributor. Why in gods name would anyone at HK put a better gun in a lesser grade box....then sell it cheaper?

my grade C was ANIB.....my grade A had some wear....

guns were graded in Germany...boxs #'d to guns if I recall

Red flag! On your dealer, that is. I think we can trust CDNN, unless someone know something I don't. No reason not to order one directly from them. Definitely grade A for me.

I'm going to agree with what everybody else is saying -- that dealer is giving you a load of BS.

That said, here's my B grade...some slight wear and tear, but nothing to cry over. Internals are excellent.

These guns are tagged on the box with a sticker that lists it as Grade A with the serial number of the gun on the sticker. I don't think I would buy one that was not packaged as such.

Thanks for all your responses - I figured this would be the common answer. I wasn't aware that the grades were not about exterior wear - that's a surprise to me.
