I have been looking at the long anticipated HK45c and have yet to see a pic of one with the hammer bobbed completetly in the frame like my USP compacts? Is the hammer not completely recessed or is it more like the hammers on the full size USP's? This is important for me to know as I carry....Thanks in advance...
Not bobbed. It sticks out like the USP hammers. That does seem strange for a compact handgun.

no kidding...It will prevent me from getting one as it is important not to get the hammer hung up on clothing or my belt when drawing.....how about the p30...is it the same as the HK45C?
Same. P30 on the left, 45C on the right.

What would the design reason be for HK to decide not to bob the hammer?

thanks for the pic..... is the p30's hammer all the way in?

Yes it is. When you decock the P30 the hammer falls almost the same as if you engage it with the trigger. If you decock the HK45C it doesn't fall as far as if you released it with the trigger. The "half cocked notch" is different between the two.

interesting....I would think that since the P30 is so small, it would have had the bobbed hammer for optimal concealment....Thanks P7M8!......

it's not that small, it's a full sized gun.

I'm pretty sure you can have a bobbed hammer installed

Would the bobbed hammer from a USPC 45 fit???

Yes, it is considered a full size but in reality it is very small compared to the full size usp's....it is more like a usp compact.

If that is the case, I would reconsider buying one. Does anyone out there have one with a bobbed hammer? if so, a pic?

I'm pretty sure the HK USPcompact 45 bobbed hammer should fit. Give HK a call to make sure, if they say yes then it should be a simple process.

To each his own, I guess. The bobbed hammer is a downside to the USPc to me and one of the reasons I'm looking at the HK45c instead. I like being able to go to a SA trigger quickly if necessary.
After years of carrying 1911's, Sigs and other guns with real hammers, I have never ever ever had one snag on clothing during any sort of drill, training or exercise. I think the whole snag thing is a perception than a reality, but I'm no Messiah Ayoob, so what do I know?

You may be right..It mau never snag...I just like to have it as compact as possible......I am a cocked and locked carrier and prefer the frist shot as a Da for extra safety.......

As the gun is brand new, it's only available in a Variant 1, i.e. no bobbed hammer/SA/DA/manual safety/decocker, etc...
I was told by HK to call back in about 3 weeks and they should have the parts in for a LEM conversion (Variant 7) that has a bobbed hammer/long double action trigger pull/no manual safety/decocker, etc...
The 9 Variants that it can be converted to are explained in detail in the owner's manual.:) It will be just as versatile as a USP, P2000, HK45, etc... only it will feel like a gift from heaven when you carry and shoot.

Did HK say the Variant 7 for the HK45 was LEM or is that what you interpreted? Normally, V7 is not LEM but only DAO, huge difference.
LEM has variants all their own and the standard 10 variants of the USP/C does NOT include any LEM versions.
It has been my understanding that the HK45/C will follow the same variant scheme as the USP/C, in which case you do not want to convert to V7 for LEM, but convert to LEM which the standard variant for LEM is LEM V2 with 8 pound pull.

If you take your first shot DA (hammer down), you're not really carrying cocked and locked, are you?

Pehaps he meant chamber loaded, hammer down, safety on. In which case this would indeed NOT be "cocked and locked"... I would in fact call that method "decocked and locked". :)

Yes, you are right....my bad.........I carry decocked and locked with safety on while at my work place which would in fact be DA and cocked and locked while in the street with SA and safety on....anyway, I am just glad they will diversify it as it feels great in my hand....I just have not had the chance to shoot one yet. Everyone raves that it is a accurate gun.....
So you are saying that a HK45 V1 is DA/SA? Meaning that you are able to Cock the hammer and apply the safety. Then to fire just turn safety off and pull trigger in SA? What is the Trigger Pull breaking point (lbs)? I am under the impression that it is a USP Match Trigger setup?

no. I was reffering to a usp compact.....not sure what the trigger pull is..

I used to carry cocked and locked but, now I carry round in chamber, decocked and safety on.

Probably won't like the P30 anyway then. As far as I know they don't have safteys on them

The owner's manual has Variant 7 as LEM, DAO with no control lever (i.e. no manual safety or decocking lever). You should buy one and check it out.:)
