OK, I have a fair collection of HK pistols (see my tag line), so after watching Diehard today & seeing a satin P7 I have decided to look for one to drive my credit card further into the hole. Can someone tell me the differences in the P7 subspecies, which ones are common, which ones to avoid, average prices, ect. Any input would be most appreciated.

You could probably answer a lot of your questions by visiting HKPro and Chris's P7 websites. I found them to be quite informative.

My understanding...

HK P7 PSP, 9mm 8rd
No New models made in factory, you can either get a grade "A" or "B".
Grade A... Next to new in most cases $750+ range
Grade "B"... can be loight wear to downright nasty, some can be as nice or better than Grade "a's" $599 range
Smaller triggerguard than P7 M8, takes PSP mags only, mag release heel style on butt of pistol, No slide lock except on empty magazine

HK P7 M8, 9mm 8rd
New models available from $1499+
Available with factory night sights.
"Jubilee's" available in satin/hard chromed finish and wood HK grips in presentation wood box
Larger trigger guard, mags release on side of trigger guard, similar to other HK pisols.
Slide lock above mag release.
Can be bought new and used.

P7 M10, 40 S&W
Mostly same as P7 M8 description Around $2100-2400 range?
I dont think there are any new imports of these

P7 M13, 9mm double stack
Mostly same as P7 M8, with exception of double stack magazine. $2100-2400 range ?
I dont think there are any new imports of these either.

P7 K3, ?? .380??
Never seen one for sale

Parts are available, but pricey and need to looked a little to locate for these pistols.

Hopefullt others will chime in here if I have related any misinformation

NvrenufRR, there are also grade C. I have NEVER seen grade B has being nasty or as-is. The grade B I have seen have been a little finish wear and internally pretty much new. Grade A (which CDNN sells for $670 IIRC) is pretty much a new pistol.

parkcitiestactical.com "cult of the P7" read as much as you can.

Just buy an M8, spend the money and be happy for the rest of your life.

NvrenufRR said,

then said of the M8,
Slide lock above mag release.

PSP is the same as M8, both have a slide lock.

robert14,
If you are going to refinish anyway why not get a less expensive model? A $600 PSP with a couple extra mags and a chrome job will run close to $1000. Unless you really need the M8 mag release, there isn't enough difference between them to matter. Both models shoot the same. Refinishing a M8 will total out above $1300 or so. Something to think about.

For carry, a PSP would be fine. Your not going to shoot enough to run into heat issues and the heel mag. release makes the gun a little more slim. For mainly range use, I would get a M8 in favor of the heat sheild. The M8 mag release is still my preference, but that is 100% just personal preference.

BTW, P7K3 comes in 3 calibers, .32, .380 and .22 LR. They are rare to find for sale and a set with all the calibers is nothing short of a collectors item.

Spending twice as much just to get a gun that runs a little cooler at the range seems a little whacky to me.

Just buy two PSP's instead of one M8, and when one of them gets hot, set it down and shoot the other one.

The PSP makes much more sense than the M8, it's 95% of the same gun for 50% of the price.

As I said, the P7M8 is my personal preference. Personally, I can't stand the heel mag. release on the PSP and vastly prefer the one on the M8. If a PSP works for you thats great, to each his own. I'd go M8 over PSP anyday.

Thanks for everyone's input. I definitely am used to the american mag release, but I will have to consider the extra $$$.
