I picked up a slightly used P30 this week and took it to the range this weekend. I was shooting Remington UMC (yellow box) cheap stuff.
Anyway, I love the pistol. The muzzle flip of the USPc is non-existant and its a very smooth shooter. Now the problem... I noticed most of the rounds were keyhole'ing when they hit the target. I would say a vast majority of them hit tail down I guess because it literally looks like a keyhole. I am going back this week to try WWB instead of the remington UMC. Besides ammo, what else should I look for before heading to the range again?

I have good luck with WWB in my P30. It's a few cents per round cheaper to shoot than anything else I can get, even reloads are more expensive. Wal mart is my cheapest spot to buy, nothing online offers a comparable price per shot.

uhhh reloads are not more expensive i make my rounds for about 10 cents a bullet
yeah, i have to second this...a dillon progressive press will outcheap any commercial ammo...
for me its a question of time....and laziness.....overall cost i guess as opposed to financial cost.....
the walmarts around me sell CCI for cheaper than WWB....

Another P30 fan. How much did you pay for your P30?

You forget you pay for the materials, press, bullets etc. I'd rather buy boxed factory ammo for $14/100 vs having to buy all the equipment and take all the time to reload. For 9mm it's not worth it. Plus, i don't shoot enough to make it necessary. When I said reloads were more expensive, I'm talking about buying factory reloads online or from a gun show. Totally not worth it compared to buying factory new. At least for me. I would be interested in seeing how much savings you'd really have if you calculated the press, all your powder per month, your primers per month, and your bullet cost per month if you fired 1000 rounds a month. How long would it take for the press to pay for itself over the cost of buying factory new ammo. I've never seen this done.
trio, I've heard that each wal mart store sets their own prices. I went to investigate and one store in a semi-bad area has WWB 9mm in boxes of 100 for $13.98 and the store in a good neighborhood near some more upscale housing developments sells the same ammo for $18.72. So it may be frugal to check around if you can. I live in an area that has many wal marts in a small area. I know some places may not have that luxury.
