Located a stone's throw from ESPN world headquarters, Wolf's is a great place to shoot. After getting your NRA Basic Pistol certificate, you are allowed to shoot. You don't even need a state permit. They will rent you guns from a large selection, the only caveat being that you must buy the ammo from them. Of course, permit holders can bring their own guns and ammo. The staff was very helpful, informative and encouraging. They even gave me a discount when they found out it was my first time visiting. The target movement controls are modern, switch-based and motorized. Each lane has its own work station area, and there are tables along the back wall. I received a warm greeting and friendly advice from a regular customer who was shooting at the same time as me. Everything about this place is top-notch, courteous and professional. Safety is a primary concern, and the rules are very clear and reasonable.

Their prices are very competitive, especially compared to other area ranges who seem to be resting on their laurels. This is surprising, given how much newer and well-maintained Wolf's facility seems in comparison.

Lots more detail and information (including the list of rental guns) is available on their web site: http://www.wolfsrange.com

Bottom line: A shining example of what a shooting range can (and should) be.

Good review. I've never been, but maybe I will try to make it out there sometime. :)

Wow. I just looked at their site again. Either their prices went up since I was last there, or I'm just dumb. $20 for 1 hour, $30 for 2 hours. I guess the 2-hour rate isn't bad.

However, the $550 yearly pass is highway robbery. Especially when compared to Chris's annual student rate of $225!

Havnt shot there in over 2 years, but was there last summer for a transfer. Indoor rates have doubled in last 3 years. I remeber 10-12 dollars a hour not long ago.

I spend most of my time now outdoors at a private range. Much healthier too.

and it kills me to think about the profit these guys are making from the swept-up brass casings alone. how about passing along some of that good fortune to the customer?

With the cost of HEating, filtering the air, Electricity and INSURANCE, most ranges probably dont do that well.

I know when my local hangout, New England Outfitters on Quinipiac Street, closed down 2 years ago, the insurance alone was many thousands of dollars per year. It cost a bundle to clean the lead up every now and then. The air filters were close to 1K for a swap out.

$25 bucks an hour to shoot up here. http://www.bostongunrange.com

Located in Ma and very HK friendly. Bill the range manager loves the HK!
I used to work here about four years ago. Nice place but not cheap.

Are they totally gone now? I thought maybe they had just moved. That's a real shame. They were just a hop skip and a jump away from me.
