hey all, just wanted to share this with you. I am getting bit hard by the bug!
I've been shooting at a local indoor club for about 4 month's now, mostly IPSC, IDPA stuff on Monday nights. I started off with a Glock 23 and a Kimber Classic Target II, and was doing OK, but still coming in towards the end of the pack (usually 15 - 20 shooters). I did better with the Kimber, and love the .45acp, but lately I've been on a hard .40 kick including setting up a Dillon 550b rigged for .40.
A friend of mine offered to sell me his HK USP .40 & .45. I went with the .40 (should have gotten both!!). It's a KF date code ('95) Variant 1 DA/SA that only had a little wear on the barrel hood. I sent it out to a local smith here in CT (Mitch Schultz of Gunsmithing Ltd.) who put in an ambi-dextrous safety for me.
I got it back, replaced the stock hammer spring with a 10# hammer spring to help the trigger, and dry-fired the heck out of it.
Now...coming in towards the middle!! This past night had 2 stages: 24 rounds on 1 stage and 30 rounds on the other. On the first 24 round stage I was only down 7 points!!! On the second stage I was down 34 points, but that was due to a miss for 15 points (don't know where that one went, all others were grouping well..)
So now...I LOVE MY USP AND WANT MORE!!! Nothing like getting a great gun and then shooting it well.
Just wanted to share this with you all, since you all have been patient in answering some of my postings here.
I'm looking forward to my next purchases (emphasis on the plural)...which by the way looks like it might be a USP Expert in .40 (if I can find one) or a USP Combat Competition in .40, then a USP Tactical in .45.
Thanks everyone!
