Just got my new HK45 from Bud's yesterday. Took it out to the pasture and ran 30 rounds through it. No problems. Swapped backstraps back and forth. Kind of a curious decision there. I prefer my 1911's with flat MH and long trigger. Never have liked the feel of a 1911 with the arched MH. In IDPA, I usually use a Glock 35 and that fits my hand perfectly. So I don't know why, but the larger and more arched backstrap feels better to me on the HK45. Maybe somehow it makes it feel closer to the G35?

Anyway, I'm not a cop and my military days are all behind me. I could see carrying the HK45 concealed in some special circumstances but it isn't going to become my daily carry. So how to really get to enjoy shooting it the most? I'm thinking about making it my IDPA gun. At least if I use a .45 for that it will be easier to find and pick up my brass!

So I'm trying to figure out some middle of the road equipment for it. With the Glock 35, I was using my Simply Rugged 1.75" leather belt with a kydex OWB holster and kydex double magazine pouch on the left side. Both made by Blade Tech, I believe. I've kind of gotten used to the sort of hard plastic clicking sound that holster makes when it locks on. So something like that would be good. I'm don't want to spend really big money in case I just use it for a few months and then go back to the Glock. I am willing to go IWB as an experiment if there is good reason to do so.

So anybody want to jump in with a "best buy" kind of holster and mag pouch setup for the HK45 and entry level IDPA?

Thanks,

Gregg

The standard kit which majority of the people use is:

Wilderness Trails Instructor Belt, 5 stitch, 1.5" wide.
Comp-tac or Blade-tech straight drop belt holster.
Comp-tac or Blade-tech mag pouch.
