I might be getting a USP45 F in a trade. I tested it today and had several failure to feed malfunctions. I think it will need a new recoil spring. I found that Wolf sells the but only the outside sping. How hard is it to change yourself?
The pistol was reasonable accurate but the slide felt like it was moving pretty slugish. I have no idea how many rounds this pistol has seen. It does seem to have alot of wear and is a 1995 dated pistol. The trade includes several 10 round unmarked mags [promag?:(] and 1 10 round HK factory mag. I would be trading a used Glock 22 for it.

No one can tell about taking apart the recoil assembly?

The FTFs are most likely caused by the mags. . . 95%
The Pro-Mags are just trash. . . don't even bother to try them.
The HK mag should get a new +10% mag-spring from Wolff (www.gunsprings.com)
The recoil spring is good for at least 20,000 rounds, and is oversprung to begin with. I wouldn't change it until it starts throwing brass real far. The littler recoil buffer spring doesn't get replaced at all unless its actually broken.
If you do decide to change the large recoil spring, you can just "unscrew" it right off the recoil assy just like taking a key-ring off a key. Ya just gotta pull the end of it over the retaining clip (needle nose pliers) and unscrew. :)

Throw the ProMags away.Shoot it again with HK Mag and decent ammo and then start to solve your problems.

Thanks, the one H&K mag worked just fine it just did not lock the slide back after the last round. I know new mags are in order, thanks

My personal preference is the 16lbs recoil spring for the .45. It does improve feeding and lockup, it's only 2lbs heavier than stock. the smaller inner spring is a very stiff buffer spring and should really not need changing. It is held in by a roll pin and collar, but I would leave it alone.

The reason it does not lock the slide back after the last shot is because the mag-spring is weak. You can test what I say if you remove the spring, stretch it out an additional 30% or so, and put it back in the mag, it probably will lock the slide back on an empty mag. It's NOT a fix though, because the spring will revert quickly. But at least it is a way to verify what the issue is. With a weak spring in it, that mag will also cause lots of FTFs sooner or later. :)
