View Full Version : Possible Bad News For HK45 Owners

I talked to my local HK dealer today about night sights for My HK45. He told me that HK has decided to start making the HK45 slides with the same sized groves as the USP. This would allow the newer HK45's to use the USP tritium sights since there are plenty on the market already. This of course would leave all of us who already own the HK45 assed out because manufacturers would not be willing to make sights for the 2 or 3 thousand HK45's that are already out there. Anbody body heard of this?

Anyhoo, IF this is true is there a place we could ship our "old" 45's to so they could drill the sights and insert tritium vials?

That would be a bitch. If so, I would go to www.tooltechgunsight.com.

They could drill the sights and insert Trijicon tritium for you.

That info is new to me and hopefully its not true. HK should have just done that from the beginning but I guess they decided not too because it would too much sense . I am eagerly awaiting nightsites to become available for the new HK's (HK45, HK45c, and P30).

I have heard nothing but good things about Tool Tech and their sight installation. Someone needs to send in their HK45 or P30 and let us know how it turned out ;).

Heine Slant Pro Straight 8's are supposed to be available now according to an email I received from them about two weeks ago.

Tool Tech is awesome. I have had close to 100 sets of sights done by them. They are the place that Trijicon uses for their custom work. Capsules are original Trijicon as well.

Send your slides to them and $$$ with confidence. They are superb

This is why, with any new thing, I will wait a few months before I buy the latest and greastest toy. You never know when something like this will happen.

But then Gerber, you'll be the last one on the block with one and miss out on all the fun!!
I don't know how big the difference is, but if the USP sites are bigger, maybe you can file some material off them and make then fit on the HK45?

Knowing HK cultists, if they made a change like that, demand for the 'old-style' HK45s would skyrocket. Also, as mentioned, Tooltech would likely be able to drop some tritium inserts into your existing sights. No biggie.

Been smoked time & again on the market share beta-test. If mil/le doesn't fly it's a collector's item.

My uneducated guess would be that this change, if official, takes place when they start US manufacturing.

Fine by me, I wanted a German marked HK45 anyway. Not that I think there will be any issues with US production but there will be thousands and thousands of the US guns and only a few thousand German.

I agree. I do not doubt the quality of the US made HK's, I just wanted a German proofed HK45 and HK45c..proofs are COOL! :)

I too think that if official, it is because of US Mfg....

IF TRUE: Meaningless. I never had any intention of changing these sights.

I may be in the minority but I'm not a "night sight" user and have never liked them. (I have my reasons)

I will tolerate the ones on the HK45 because they are extremely functional disregarding the "glow" feature.

If this is true I will definately be sending mine to Tool Tech for tritium. I work a 10 hour grave shift and there is no way in hell I can remember to charge the current sights every hour.
