Is it possible for you to compare it with the p30? Possibly a comparison range report? I am curious how much the added length helps in accuracy and balance. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

The "L" stands for Longslide. The P30L has a 4.4 inch barrel compared to the 3.86 inch of the P30.

It looks like it would be a good Production pistol for USPSA Competition.

Oh come on. How much difference can 17/32" more barrel make? Is that all the difference is?
Is it needed to meet the rules of some sport or something? Fill me in here, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Should I care?

Same difference that makes people buy a Glock 17 over a Glock 19, USP full size over a USP compact, and vis-versa. It's nice to have a choice for those who are looking for a full size pistol and not a compact.
I'm very interested as well to know if anyone has any new info on whether these will ever come to the States. It's among my top 3 desired handguns at the moment.

I also am interested in knowing how the slide length can possibly benefit. Would be great to read a comparison range report between the p30L and p30. Hopefully soon we will have something interesting to read. I strongly feel that this type of report is long over due from our European counterparts.

I would want one more if they followed what Glock did with the G35. Make the barrel as long as possible and still fit in the IDPA box. Which would be a slide and barrel around 5 inches. Over the years, the G34/35 has become my favorite size of Glock. Should work for the P30 as well!

I would trade my G34 in on one of those in a heartbeat.

Considering the price difference, so would I! Then I would turn around and buy another G34. (Actually I prefer the versatility of the G35 but same idea.)
Regardless of "which one is better," doesn't it seem like a good idea to have a P30 long slide like the G35? Why not get the gun as big as possible but still fitting in the box? Just makes sense.

Increased barrel/slide length means extra weight which helps with recoil.
Increased barrel/slide length means increased accuracy.
Increased barrel/slide length means increased sight radius which helps with accuracy.
Increased barrel/slide length means increased velocity from ammo.
Now that being said, it is a small increase and at normal defense ranges it probly doesn't make a noticable difference outside of soaking up recoil. If you're target shooting at longer distances you'de probly start to see the advantage of the longer barrel/slide.
Personally, I want one, I wanted one months ago.
I cant carry in Wisconsin so I want all the barrel I can get. Plus the P30L looks a lot better than the P30.
I'm getting an M&P 9L as soon as they're released so unless HK gives us some news here soon, I may end up foregoing the P30L. It's too bad HK hates civilians.

This is exactly why I have been holding out. Otherwise I would have had a p30 a few months back. I also want to check out the LEM trigger. Ideally I want to fondle a p30L in LEMt (the tactical match LEM version with the lighter 4.5lb trigger with shorter reset).
Have you shot the m&P 9? What do you think in comparison to the p30 (accuracy, machining quality...)? The issues people have had on the first run guns has kept me away. But Scooter has put a ton or rounds through his.
I can see the pictures either...oh well. Im holding out for a P30L in .40sw...looks like Im in for a bit of a wait huh? :(

I've had the M&P in 9, 40 and 45 but sold them after buying my P30 and HK 45. I think most of the problems have been worked out for awhile now. Everything about the Hk's seems beefier and stronger but not by a huge amount. Noticeable enough for me though. Smith has the best service in the business and they have an excellent rebate going on right now that includes two free mags. So it's a great pistol at a great price. I just feel the HK's are enough of a cut above in fit, finish a just an over all solid feeling that I prefer them.
As to the P30L I would buy one yesterday if they were available in the states.
